'Cerbera' Boot Button

Following on from the other boot related thread, can i just ask how your boot button (ie the Cerbera sign) actualy operates.

Since day one, mine has always worked by simply pulling to oneself from the bottom. However, since i had the back end repair and respray, now it works by pressing the Cerbera sign inwards at the centre! I was informed this is the way it should be.

There is a small micro switch behind the badge, which when pushed, activates, makes something 'twist', pulling upon a cable, which releases the boot latch....or something like that!

A solenoid sits behind the carpet/thin glassfibre panel, when you press the switch the solenoid pulls on a thin cable which pulls on the mechnical clamp lock.

On another boot thing, I smine the only boot you have to close twice to make it lock. One to let it know and the second time it locks. It does every time so me thinks this is how it should be??

Right, so it's definitely normal to push 'in' the Cerbera badge on the rear left hand side of the car . Mine must have been set up a bit differently prior to its bodywork repair - it always worked OK though.

My boot lid always closes with just the one firm push

the cerbera "sign" is just a flat piece of metal held in place by 2 bolts that pass through the fibreglass shell. The sign is held away from the switch by small springs that are slipped over the bolts.

the sign can be adjusted by cutting the carpet inside the boot and loosening or tightening the nuts.

Interestingly the electric switch that the sign pushes is the same as the red kill switch below the steering wheel! If yours is broken they are £4.95 from any tvr dealer and dead easy to fit.
