pint of water in passenger foot-well

I see a Chim owner has found a similar problem during this lovely weather we're having - sad to say it isn't confined to convertibles. As well as the waterlogged carpet at passenger's feet, found lots of soggy maps, papers etc in the boot, but coats and stuff on top of them dry - water going upwards?! Anyone have similar problems on a Cerbera... or, even, better any remedies? Car interior now smells like damp cellar.

I found the best answer was to buy a house with a decent size garage 
I had my indy look at fixing it and they did a fairly good job in reducing it, but when it rains heavy you still get a little bit of dampness. I only get it in the drivers footwell and comes in through the bulk head somewhere, I think where the wheel etc go through. Try sealing round there, not sure about boot though.

I may be in the minority here but I have never had an issue with water getting in the car. All the carpets are bone dry.
In the footwells, make sure all the holes are sealed up. Anywhere that any cables etc come in, bung it up with silicone sealant. If you have to take it off to fix something then make sure you bung it up again when you are finished. Dont rely on just a grommet.
For the boot, try and make sure you park level or even a little bit with the back of the car downhill. Gravity should let the water run down and out.
If you want to check anything, open the boot or bonnet, take a cup of water and pour it in places and see how it drains off. You should hopefully see if anything is clogged up and holding water back.
