Check the ribbon cable that is connected to the back of them mate, I was looking at mine the other day, I think there are two ribbons that run from the panel and off in to the deepest depths of the footwell

One of the connectors had come away from the rear window when i first had it.

Have a good look - because you couldn't spot mine until i got up close. You can buy 'electrocure' which will replace any damaged filament (electical conductor paint) and then use a small discrete dab of epoxy resin (araldite) or similar to get the connector to adhere to the screen again (make sure you degrease screen)

I used an allen key sandwiched between the rear headrest and the connector, worked a treat...

but that wouldn't expain your fan / a/c though ?! Just something to check...

Similar thing happened on mine. I repaired it with a liquid silver paint (probably the same stuff), and its been ok since.

My rear screen is not working at the moment, has been repaired before by the looks of it, but is ceasing to work now. Might be a little job for the weekend.

As for the fans, sounds like the ribbon cable could've come loose?
