Time reach oil pressure

Being as the weather is rather nippy at the moment and I don't drive the car every day, I 'm finding when I start the car from cold it take several seconds for hte oil pressure light to go out and pressure to register on the gauge, once the pressure is up it seems fine ( about 45-40Psi @ hot idle) so how long do others take?

Mine does that as well. I'm seeing around 60-70psi cold and 35-40psi when hot.
The pressure seems to increase much more quickly if I hold the revs at 1500rpm instead of the usual 900rpm idle when starting. Is this a good thing to be doing, gently holding the revs up to bring the pressure up faster?

I wouldn't imagine it is good to give the engine more than idling revs as it warms up...but I suppose 1500 should not give the engine too many issues...hopefully.
I've been doing this 1500 rpm thing for a couple of Minutes after every start ever since reading a Ravenscroft memo about running in.
Most road engines have an initial timed raised idle period (e.g. the Honda 16v in our Rover 216 shopping trolley runs 1200 rpm for 3-7 minutes, depending on the temperature). Mark Adams said that as the engine ECU is more or less completely throttle angle dependant, this could not be done for Cerberas. So in effect you are compensating for some missing elecronics with your foot. The main point of doing it, if I recollect correctly, is that Camshafts absolutely hate low RPM/cold start conditions, and wear away pronto.

Matt one of these installed may help decide where you oil temp is!
