Baby Seat

I was having a second look at a cerb today and was talking about some of the finer points with the dealer. one thing I am looking for is a baby seat, the dealer said that I need to get a bar put into the chasis that acts a support for the baby seat. can anyone offer any advice on this.

I would think that he is thinking of ISOFIX which we used to have in our Mini. It was an option we specified when ordering the car so possibly only a factory fit or an expensive after-market modification.

What's wrong with a baby seat held in by the seatbelt?

I could 99% swear that there is a baby seat specifically designed for the Cerbie.

I'm sure one of the experts will come along an confirm this - but it's something I considered when Kinky Junior came along.

Yep, there certainly is - although I don't think TVR make them any more. There are loads of threads on here about them. When we were buying a seat, though, TVR were supplying Recaros - don't know whether they still do. We've got the TVR leather baby seat - bought it second-hand, it looks fab and is very comfortable (so SBaby tells us, anyway!).

I asked TVR for one 6 months ago and they wanted the best part of £400 & it wasn't even leather.

I believe the Recaro Start Pro is identical and comes in at at £160.

The main problem is that the rear seat length is so short that the front seat has to be almost as far forward as it can go before a seat will fit comfortably in the back. If you have a baby it is not so much of a problem - for now at least

I tried a couple of seats in the front but universally they were too wide for the side bolsters and the angle of the seat caused the baby/toddler seats to be unsupported in places even with the seat upright.

I opted to use the Graco seat I had for my 3 year old in the back using the Cerbera's seat belt. Works fine for the 1 mile journey from nursery & she loves being in Daddy's noisy car!

There is a special bar that fits to the transmission tunnel and floor to support the front edge of the seat. As you have found, without it the seat does not have enough support at the front edge.

If you are of any height at all, I doubt you'll get behind the wheel with it fitted on the drivers side!

We've got a Recaro Start in ours without the extra bar. There's enough seat to stop the seat sliding down/forward in the event of an accident. There's no doubt a bar would be a bonus but I've no concerns about the installation without it.

yep, i have a recaro start in the rear of my cerb and it fits in no problem. had my 2 year old in the back for journeys of 3 hours and more with no real complaints (apart from the noise) and my wife in the front seat without too much moaning (apart from the draft) i havent got a bar or anything, just fixed in with the 3 point seat belt.

I've got a 99 Sp 6, I have a 2 year old who fits very snugly in a BRITAX seat. It's one of the convertible booster seats (as child gets older back comes of to leave jest the booster). I went down to Halfords, remember their adverts saying they will fit the car seat for you, well after about 8 seats being put in the back (as I watached, making sure no paintwork was damaged in the process!!) the Britax one fitted perfectly. Couldn't get the Recaro one in properly.
It's good, my little girl is very comfortable.
