Yesterday - suddenly the temperature gauge started to go up in heavy stationary traffic, and very quickly went off the dial (into the oil pressure reading!!) Immediately drove onto the pavement and shut the Cerb down - don't think I've done to much damage - I didnt hear the fans come on so I think the sensors packed up. No big deal been here before - just ring the breakdown folks and get them to ferry the car to my dealer. Thats when things got interesting. 8.33am - rang them - and 1st guy turned up within about 45mins. He poked around the car and told me he was used to working on TVR's especially 'this type' with the Rover engines in!! Told him he was mistaken and he looked really confused. My confidence in letting him near the car seemed to disipate somewhat! He then diagnosed a blown head gasket and I would to be ferried to a specialist. A further TWO plus hours later - along comes flat bed wagon and drags Cerb onto its back - scrapping the exhaust along the pavement - the 'operator' hearing the grating noise and my screaming stops the winch - reverses it so the exhaust is now digging a groove into the pavement as it comes off the truck. Oh the joy! Anyway, eventually got the Cerb to the dealers and now waiting for the outcome. 3hours freezing my 84LL5 off and a scratched exhaust - ain't life great!!

Picked up the car tonight - a simple fan sensor malfunction caused all the grief, just overheated, but apparantly no other damage. Also decided the scratched exhaust looked really naff (despite the fact you couldn't see the damage unless you were under the car!)so finally went for the sports silencers - sounds great!
Its fab, I've kept the cats so its not as loud as some as I have to drive it everyday! I've only driven it home from the dealers so far but the sound sems to have a far greater bass effect and the over run pops and crackles are definately more pronounced. Just off to work now so I'll get a better idea going through towns etc. Should have done this ages ago!!

I agree, I was running decat and sports zorst but it was just too much for my 100 mile commute.

Get the agent to pay for the damage. The RAC have special loaders for cars like the Cerbera, although I have only used them once they were very good.
I told them that I need a low loader as the slave had gone, no point in sending out a patrol dude.

I would get them to pay for the damage too.
I've had to call AA out twice, which meant using a flat bed trailer on both occations. The second time my back suspension collasped, so it was even lower. It took the AA guy over an hour to load it on the trailer, using planks of wood. He took his time and didnt damage the car at all.
Well its a thumbs up to the breakdown recovery service - letter from them acknowleging my complaint and a cheque on its way - didn't think they would be understanding! Had the sports exhaust on for two days now and its just so different - scary loud excellent different mind you! Only small snag is one of the pipes sticks out a little further than the other and both need minor adjustments to fit in the recesses properly - already booked it back in next week.
So, Sunday drive tomorrow, loud and proud!
