battery keeps going flat

hi guys just went to start cerb in garage as it was a nice day and the battery was as flat as a pancake metaphorically speaking now i only started her up last weekend so its not been that long since she was running. in the summer when shes out most days never a problem, i turn the silver key off because someone told me that would save juice but was still flat this morning just wanted to know if this is quite a common problem when there not run every day. the cars a 4.2 1999 i think its probably still the original battery also cars done 19000 miles regard andy cole

Andy, I can leave mine for weeks on end with no detriment to the battery. Either your battery is gone (compounded by the cold weather), or you have an electrical problem in the car which is pulling the battery down! Do you have any odd electrical symptoms?

I'm reliably informed Cerbs need new batteries every two years, we've always had problems in the cold, should get a decent battery really

Mine has been the same with mine it was due to the big fuse on it's way out. I had to charge the battery on Sat so I could take her out today.

I use mine at the weekends and every time i have to charge it for an hour or so with my trickle charger. I put it down to the recent cold and wet weather, but perhaps i should get it checked out

I'm afraid the Meta alarm puts quite a strain on the battery, in a week of inactivity it will most likely flatten it unless its almost brand new!

this has come up many a time. My leak was an amp slowly draining via setting itself permanently live. Just fitted a switch to sort that!

That came from my own Cerb God Andy at AMP, think he was joking a bit, but as he said if you have a three year warranty, you just get a new one. If you've got four years you may get two

I think it's realy down to how much you use the car, batteries like to be used all the time, most Cerbs aren't, so they get though batteries very quickly.

thanks for all the feed back guys ill get battery checked out where is the big fuse everyone keeps on about ie where is it located and why does it have such a profound effect on the electrics i thought either fuses worked or they didnt

Ive heard this many times. One chap (forget who know) said a new battery every year isnt a bad idea, if you never want to be caught out.

My last battery lasted almost four years, current one's been going two years so far.

Regards the fuse question, in theory as that piece of metal deteriorates from throwing almost 100amps through it, its gets thinner etc, it should carry less ampage.

eg 10amp fuse wire is thicker than 5 amp fuse wire.#
