Had the above fitted to our 4.2: One of my "spider's legs" 4.2 manifolds was blowing at the joint between pipe and block attachment, so replaced it with the fatter 4.5 manifolds, which seem to be the only ones available.

Had the manifold ceramic coated inside & out on advice from Andy at APM, to control the under-bonnet heatsoak a bit.

Look forward to seeing if it makes a difference in summer & what the top end difference (if any) will be.

So far I haven't revved it particularly high (something to do with the state of the roads), but the sounds coming from up front are a bit Viperish (well, ok, truck like).

I know a few on here have had this done. How is it in service?

Where'd you have it done?

I've heard horror stroies about this stuff falling off almost instantly. Not saying that yours will.

APM organised it, so I have high hopes of the stuff staying on at least till the next service...will report when/if it falls off

I've not heard any such stories, could you tell more? I'm about to have this done, having had recommendations from a couple of people who have it already.

Guy who had it done on a supercharged Saxo (no comments please ) Lasted no longer than a month before it started to fall off. It's all down to the prep like any coating so I expect that he just had a poor job done. I'd just like to be sure of quality before going ahead with things like that.

Most places won't do the coating unless its being applied to a new, unused surface.

Sean,

I would imagine that with your brand new manifolds prepared and coated properly by a racing exhaust specialist who supplies all sorts of top marques, the wide and impressive network of Andy , you will be fine.

I pick my P&J up from Andy this week, with new ceramaic 4.5 manifolds and an engine refresh by Andy's own fair hands, plus a few other interesting bits!
