How much is a new oilpressure/coolant temp gauge?

I have aquired some brand new boxed gauges of the above type for cerbies.I would like to put an advert on ph for them,but dont know what theyre worth.Does anybody know how much these cost new please?I want them to sell,and am not after massive profits and being greedy,but i havent a clue what theyre worth.They came as a job lot,so in order to get what i wanted,i had to buy them.Any help greatly appreciated,cheers,Mike

It's a Smiths gauge - £71.19
I don't believe the TVR badged ones command a premium or if they do it's only a few quid. The subject came up recently as someone was looking for one iirc.

yep that was me looking for one! in fact, the one in my car atm (which needs replacing) isnt tvr labeled anyway!

Seriously, don't know what you paid for them (probably from the recent auction in Lincolnshire??) but £50 would be a fair price IMO especially to true enthusiasts who visit these boards!

think these might take a while to shift. In the yrs that I have hung out here I have only seen 2 people after one (and not sure they wanted that colour). Maybe leven might be interested (ie to sell to people that bugger up dash fitting)

Ive just re-read your 1st post as thought you were asking how much one was gonna cost you. I take it the ones you are selling are original smiths items? if so do you have any pics to show them? i might have one off you as mine needs replacing!

Yes Toady,they are the original tvr/smiths items.They are ex tvr dealer stock.I dont have any pics up yet,but should be putting some up tomorrow hopefully.

Anyway, his market research hasn't worked has it. He wants £75 for it, but you can get it for £71.19 (as per speed8), plus you'll get some sort of guarantee.

I agree with purpleheadedcerb, £50 is a more realistic price.

Kojak,i did do the market research,have you seen the price of the genuine gauges?The demon tweeks one will cost you £71.19,but then you have the postage on top!then you still have a gauge thats not original!If they dont sell at this price(two gone and only 3 left already), i have negotiated an arrangement with a trader who'll take them off me,and he'll be charging a lot more than i am,i'm sure,probably the list price!

They are cheaper if you approach Caerbont direct and ask for one with a magnolia face. DT will pull your pants down on 99% of their products so it's no suprise that they charge what they do.

I don't begrudge your sales and at the end of the day, they are worth what someone is wiling to pay for them. If someone like Liam is desperate for one then an extra £25 or so isn't going to be a deal breaker.

I ordered one with via a TVR dealer a while back. The order took some time to fulfill - Magnolia face supplied by Caerbont Automotive Ltd. Final bill was 103.72 + VAT = 121.99! Bit steep by the sound of it, but the deed is done. Perhaps mine came with 17 jewels...

I thought the ones from DT only came with a red neddles on and when i enquired CA wouldn't do a TVR logo face with black needles either, they said i had to buy through TVR and it was nearly 160 pounds when I bought one from TVR a few years ago ... at 75 pounds for a proper TVR one i'd say that's a bargain at over 30% off the TVR list price.

My water temp/oil pressure guage doesn't have a TVR logo so I guess that its been changed already?

£160 is just plain silly. It does make £75 look reasonable

Edit. I just looked at the classifieds picture for this item and it doesn't have TVR written on it either. Exactly the same as mine. So back to my original statement, if you call CA and ask for a magnolia water temp/oil pressure guage, with a round profiled brushed aluminium edge, black needle and didn't mention the word TVR anywhere............

Does yours have 'TVR' on the face,Jed?I've done some digging around,and am assured that this is what dealers supply now,ie no tvr logo,just like the ones i have from tms.
