Just been out to Uxbridge on a job. Nice day so took the Cerb
Parked in the "Chimps" shopping centre multi story. (think that's what it was called)
The up and down ramps were the spiral type. Clockwise!
I had to stop half way and reverse turn to get up and down each and every ramp. People behind weren't to happy
Anyone else had problems like this? Or it my Cerbs turning circle really bad?

Know what you mean Dave. I tried doing a 3 point turn in what I thought was a relatively wide road the other day.. Uuuummmm NO !
I'm sure that I could have turned the Titanic easier!

Gave up in the end and lit up the back end to spin it around, might be worth trying that in the multi storey??

I parked in Sarfend multi story on Sunday with no problems, but I am running 17's.

It still has the turning circle of the QE2.

Quite right, I'm running 17's and am delaying the 'Spider momemt' because it already has the turning circle of just slightly more than the QE2.

When I took the rack out of mine the two bumbstops in the rack were very unkind to the turning circle. They left a good inch and a half before touching.

I took them both out. What this means is that I can rub the wheel rim on the frame of the carrier.

In reality you don't do this unless at very slow speed and even then I find I pretty much never get this far into the travel. It is not travel you would ever use in traveling above creep forward speed. Actually I run 18" and for some wierd reason only the right is capable of touching.

Its just that that last inch and a half makes all the difference to the turning circle.

Its easy to do just cut the plastic clip, pull back the gaitor. and pull off the big white bumpstop from the rack.

However depending on your MOT guy you may have to replace it for MOT's

Yes but setting off a few car alarms more than made up for it

Ditto problem but at least more people can view the car as it takes longer to turn. Must be the 18 wheels but sod it they look too good to change.

I've got to say i found no difference in turning circles 17's and 18's. although both useless. re multi-story parking, just found you've got to go wider. never had to do 3 point turns to get up them?

I have 17s on current Cerb and have no issues with turning circle.
On my previous one I went from RL18s to Spider 18s and that made a massive difference ie suddenly really bad turning circle. I got the knack in the end ie turn in a metre earlier than before.

Just to add a bit more info......lock to lock takes just under two complete turns.

P.S. Just to add a word of warning. Never ever ever do a lock to lock in the Cerb with the engine off.

Wouldn't it be possible to remove them, trim them down a bit and then put them back? So the wheel doesn't rub and you still get more lock? A 1.5" spacer sounds a bit excessive I have to say

Well, not really. They are no more than a round ring of thick plastic with a cut down them so they can be pushed over the rack.

The rack has a spiral toothed appearance so you can only fit the plastic to one of the valleys in between two teeth. Trimming the plastic would have no effect I'm afraid.

Supertanker steering here too

I always find it amusing when you're in a tight spot and someone giving you the nod telling you that you've enough space, not realising you've ran out of lock so can't make it. Probably makes people think we can park mind you!

If only the handbrake worked, we could get a bit of help from it...

Why's that then? Something to do with pump casing in the block?

A large strain will be placed on some very tiny parts in the steering system

Isn't that the truth, I actually managed to roll into my Freelander on the in laws drive way, because their drive is at 30° and I had a cold engine so I was one foot short of total control!
