help with electrics
Discussion
It would be great if someone could sort Cerb electrics.
I have a strangen intermittment issue that the prev owner had. If the outside temp is very cold or very hot then the lx play up on mine. Ie the buttons on the steering wheel (for lights flash and horn and wipers) stop working as do the indicators. The aircon also then switches itself off sometimes (ie blue light goes out and clutch disengages).
BUT if you press the hazards then it always comes back to life (albeit sometimes it fixes itself). Changed ribbon cable, flasher unit and various bits.
In fair weather it is nearly always fine.
Going to take out the helmet hole and see if there are any bad connections behing rear seats.
I would love to find a great car lx man in surrey area who can test etc....

new battery may be a dud, bought it only 2mnths ago and having to charge it to start her up.left it on a trickle charge and cant get in her. live in s.woodham ferrers. had no problems at all until battery change.
Not impossible to have a duff battery after two months, but unlikely.
I'd have a look at the 100A in line fuse (alternator to battery), it may not be letting enough current through if it's starting to perish.
Failing that get a multimeter & check the voltage to the battery whilst the engine is running, should be between 13.2 & 14.4 Volts, if it's lower, it's your fuse or your alternator.
I heard that there are 5 or 6 main earths. as part of my chassis refurb I am cleaning and redoing all the earths. So far I have found the two at the front (Iam working backwards)
1. the drivers side earth next to the rad
2. The passenger side earth at the rear of the front wheel.
where are the others?
Thanks
Jes

Hi,
The earths them selves are fine. They are bolts welded into the chassis. All I am doing is taking of the nut, washers etc, sanding the copper terminals wire brushing the threaded bolt and sanding the washers and nut, to remove any rust/get a clean finish/good connection, greasing the lot and reassemling before covering the whole lot in thick grease to prevent future rusting. So far its been very easy!
