She's been absolutly brilliant! Given me no real problems apart from the ocassional flat battery and I've only had her a few months...and I'm ashamed to say...that Im going to have to sell her.

My work commitments have changed, I'm going to have to drive around 100 miles a day and tbh, I just don't think the Cerb is practical enough to be used this way.

I'm gutted, but c'est la vie!

Anyway, the point of this thread, I've never sold a car before, and just wanted some tips and hopefully a few answers to a few questions:

1) It's a P reg, metallic blue, 39K miles, 4.2. The usual stuff, CD Player central locking Blah Blah blah...how much do you think I should ask for it? Bearing in mind I would like a relativly Quick sale. I was thinking of around £14k but looking on Autotrader they range from 14-16?

2) any reccomendations on where to sell it, Im thinking maybe Autotrader.com, or maybe even ebay? Has anyone had any success with either of these?

Any help would be appreciated, and apologies if these sort of threads aren't allowed, I'm looking for advice and not just trying to advertise.

why dont you just by a cheap car, for commuting so you can keep the Cerb?

Yeah that was the original idea, as my Girlfriends got a Polo, but to be honest, If Im doing such high mileage I'd like to do it in some form of comfort, and It seems a bit of a waste to just have the cerb sitting in my carpark doing nothing.

It really is worth buying a cheap car for commuting in order to keep probably the best car you will ever own. You can get some cheap, comfortable, ecconomical cars easily capable of doing the milages you mention. Have a long hard think mate, what would you do without her?

With 100 miles of commute every day, it's really not worth knocking the crap out of a decent car. Go for something economical and comfy like a Pug 306 or 406 diesel.

I use an old % series for commuting. Lots of comfort and relatively cheap to run.
Up to 80 miles a day commute. Might soon move to 180 miles a day commute and then might buy a golf diesel.

I do 85 miles a day - i picked up a 2000 1.8 TDi Ford Fiesta for £1800. Has electric windoes air con etc...and does 50mpg. What more can you ask for. It will still be worth £500 in 3 years and i get to use the Cerb when i want, for grins.

It's really not worth trying to get a car to do both - it doesn't work. I lost over £10k learning that lesson the hard way, any reasonably new car that you buy will depreciate like a stone with that kind of mileage, no matter what it is.

i couldnt agree more, when i got the Griff last week i knew i didnt want to take it to work everyday, m company car is still a few months off so i went out looking for a 406 diesel, in the end i got a Citoren Xantia diesel, R reg 133000 miles with history, power steering,air conditioning and its very clean and drives well plus gives great fuel economy,while been very comfy, sure its not an awe inspiring drive, but really are you going to care if you have a TVR at home?,i know i dont.

I used to commute 130-140 miles a day in a 1985 C reg auto Cavalier.

Best one I had was a Volvo 760, V6 Auto. Cost £350 with 30K miles. Full leather, heated seats, full elctrics. What's not comfortable about that?

It's worth getting the second machine. As I reckon you'll regret flogging the Cerb.

likwise I use a W reg mitsibushi charisma-very aptly named-paid £2000 last year for it and never goes wrong racking up 30,000 a year with little depreciation. Just hang on to the cerb. Go on you know you want to!

Up to 60 miles a day. I bought a £200 1993 Fiat Uno with full MOT. Now done 3500 miles at 50mpg, no faults. Saves 1000 - 1500 miles a month on a Tuscan!

Good to know I'm not the only one who copes with an old French diesel to balance out a Griff

Xantia diesel has to be one of the cheapest, most economical, most comfortable, most toys, motor for your money.

the Xantia and 406 are both great for the money, glad to know im not alone either, i cant wait for the weekend,going to attach the hot start kit and get some tax on saturday morning then take the Griff for a decent blast, i certainly wouldnt be considering selling my Cerbera if i owned one for a boring car for commuting when so many can be had for £1000 or less that will cope with the milage and be stupidly cheap to run and insure allowing you the Cerb for when you want to enjoy yourself.
