Went to Santa Pod on sunday for a couple of runs........
Had a look to see what previous times were for the run and i am not sure if they are after taking off your reaction time or not......
If quoting a 1/4 mile time do you take off the reaction time?
If so not a bad run at 12.5... if you dont then probably slow...

I don't think on a rwyb day they count teh reaction time in the et .. you could wait for minutes on teh start line and still post the same et as it only starts the clock from the point you break the first time beam? . please correct me if I'm worng but i think the et including reaction is only used at competitive events?

I asked someone on the day who worked on the track and they said that you take off your reaction time for your 1/4 mile time....... i was curious if everyone else posting their times on here were doing that with there times or it is not a true comparison.

Not too sure now,
So the 1/4 mile time on the ticket needs the reaction time taken off?
So that would mean my best is 12.342.
Where ASH? Surly he knows.
I have posted my times, not that it helps much.

Last years run best times. Yesterday.

No, the ET is the time over the 1/4 mile from when you break the second beam(light). The reaction time is the difference between the green light and when you break the second beam. No different if its a RWYB day or whatever.

So simply look at your ET for the correct 1/4 mile time and ignore the reaction time!

cheers

Just seen 106 octane fuel on sale on at Santa Pod.....
Would this make much difference?

only if you have your ECU remapped on a rolling road. As the Cerb has no knock sensor.
The only way to get good times it seems is practice, and most importantly of all throttle control.

We tried running optimax and octane booster before and it gained absolutely nothing with remapping .. seems the cerbie is capable of all it will give on 98octane anyway.

Nick, the 1/4 mile ET is the one, regardless of reaction time.

Most (although not all) drag racing involves two cars racing each other to the end of the measured distance. The elapsed time from the light turning green to the car's front end passing through the "traps" at the other end ('far end') of the track determines the winner; this is the "E.T." or "time". In practice, it is necessary for the driver to "jump the gun" by a faction of a second, starting the car during the split-second interval between when the yellow light goes out and the green light goes on. However, if the car crosses the electric eye ('the beam') in front of it before the green light comes on, the driver has "red-lighted" and is disqualified. (If both cars "red-light", only the first car to cross is disqualified.) A driver who gets a substantial lead at the start is said to have gotten a "holeshot". The driver's reaction time and the car's top speed are also recorded, in addition to the e.t., on the "timeslip". The car that crosses the finish line first wins. A car can actually blow an engine part way down the strip and coast to the end of the track at a (relatively) lower top speed than the competitor, and still win with a lower elapsed time. This is called "heads-up racing", and is used in all professional ('pro') classes.

Race fuel can make a hell of a punch on some jap motors and FI's too, but the cerbies are not known to suddenly wack out another 20odd, maybe if the AJP was a DOHC, we may notice a small hike....

But for those with a pair of iron clad balls, just T into the fuel line a meth injection kit, watch the power gooooooo

( Peter (GreenV8S) runs a water/meth injection kit on his blown V8S.... I'm sure for a few quid he wouldnt mind helping out a fellow tvr nut if you dont mind burning out your rings, you could potentially mix in some very strange liquids get shot of the MBE though (unless you're willing to pay someone burn new maps for your everytime you wanna play)

Nick, btw, you got that 0.07 reaction time wrong, it was .007 last time I saw it????

i was thinking a Cerbera would achive around 12-12.5 secs with a really good launch?

A good launch is the key to a good time. Best I've managed in my Cerb is a 2.103 60ft, and then went onto a 12.3sec 1/4 ET, the best launch I have seen was a 2.0 60ft from the late Jasonben in not so perfect conditions and he also went on to a 12.3 sec 1/4. Trying to get a 2.0 sec 60ft in a Cerb is really difficult as you have to get the right amount of revs on the launch (I use about 3000-3250 rpms), however, even with the right amount of revs dialed in you are not guaranteed a good launch, this is down to how effectively you release the clutch, release it too quick and the wheels light up, too slow and the revs dip. It all takes a bit of practice which is why if you can do around 13-13.5 secs on your first few runs, then you'll almost definitely improve the next time you go (weather permitting). A Cerb running 350bhp with a good launch in dry conditions will do a 12.8-12.9 secs, a Cerb running 400bhp should do 12.0-12.4 secs.

As a guide last year when I ran around the 500bhp mark I had the following

60' 2.428
330' 5.985 @ 88.59mph
660' 8.818
990' 11.007
1/4 11.403 @ 120.44mph

this was with a bit of wheel spin in 1st and a bit in second.

The best on the day was a 11.112 1/4 at 128mph but I can't find the timing slip!

Craig, didnt you get a 98.5mph at the 330' mark one time too?????
And the fastest I remember you ran was 11.2 ET with progressive NOS?????

Guess you'll trounce that when shes run in and back on the strip with the larger than life tyres and 300+ shot on the 5 litre setup!

Yeah nearly the time of 11.112s @ 128mph I had a 330' in 5.6s @ 94mph ish from memory.
If I find the slip I'll scan it in. unfortunatly is also shows the person I raced beating me by nearly 1s @ 130+ ........bistardo!

Craig so with a verey good 60' time you could have possibly cracked the 11s mark and that's before the latest tweeks
