Morning chaps

Does anyone know what the front discs are from on a 4.2 Cerby? Or are they TR specials?

Joolz (trackcar) told me they were from a Jeep Cherokee, I think.

Jeep would make sense being as thats what the front hubs are off. I'll ask around on Monday as skimming my existing ones hasn't worked, brake vibration is still as bad as before with about 0.5mm of runout on the disc!

When I had my Grand Cherokee, I compared the two discs and I'm afraid to say, they are totally different. Don't know about the Cherokee, but it's not the Grand.

I think the lack of upgrades leads most people to put the Tuscan drilled fronts on. This is what I have, although I don't really like drilled discs.

Hi
I have got grooved discs on mine from trackcar or joolz. I would not have drilled if you are going to do track days they can crack.

I think you will find that economics drive this decision.

Later cars came with them fitted on. And at something like £120 compared to £380 for the original one - I won't be complaining!

If you can send him some discs as a pattern, Ian at www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk will be able to knock you up a set. Drilled, grooved, both, whatever.

I just changed my front disks to drilled ones. Not a track warrior, so not too worried by cracking. They were about £110 plus VAT from TVR power. I could not find any alternatives. Having said that, the pads, (green stuff)say they fit and Aston Martin too, so there may be a similarity in disks, but I would guess that Aston disks may be a bit more expensive! The non-drilled ones are about £10.00 cheaper than drilled for the front. Strangely, the reverse is true at the back, with drilled being about £30 cheaper than plain!

Godspeed are big in the jap scene - when my alcon brakes on my P1 impreza needed work I spoke to them. They were good value BUT you pays your money..... The bells were not great and the discs were not of the quality to be had via AP and such like. Apparently they were BMW discs machined to fit.

I fitted the drilled discs the night before driving to Le Mans last yr.
I couldnt get a Joospeed kit or original APs in time.
I am not impressed with them. They are not happy with loads of heavy hot braking and feel very wooden under extreme conditions. They feel fine on the road but I am never 100% happy.
If I was doing again I would go for the Trackcar option.

Not the same.

4.5 has 322mm vented, solid face disks with a separate mounting bell and AP Racing CP5200-804S4 calipers. These are 4 piston differential bore calipers and can take up to a 330mm diameter disk (good easy upgrade). The 4.2/4.0 model has 294mm disks and less powerful calipers.
