My main beam keeps turning all my lights off, and the headlights aren't coming on sometimes? Switch or relay?

Burnt out plug into the black box on top of your fuel tank. Not a pleasant thought is it.

Sounds like the wires are shaking loose everywhere at the moment, doors dash now boot!
Shorting lead into the black box on the fuel tank, that should give me a good turn of pace when it goes off!

It's probably the cheapest fix you'll ever get to do though, if you have a soldering iron handy.

Mines been doing the same recently.. Checked connections in the black box and they're all blackened and burnt.

Main beam works intermittently.

When you mention soldering iron, I assume the permanent fix is to open the box and solder wire direct?

Pretty much, I put in connectors so that I could remove the box if needed.

Yep! Along with the stone protector in the drivers front wheelarch, the switch on the passenger door, the switch under the drivers mirror (bought one for a £5 from Car Builder Solutions, what a great find they are for lots of little bits www.nfauto.co.uk) exhaust mount. Make up a grill from stainless mesch etc. on the air intake so that a stone doesn't go through the new aluminium rad fitted last week and then down to Andy at APM next week for new springs and shocks. Oh and I have some new pads! Cerb life, all glamour!

Sorry, slightly off topic here, but just looked at your profile, you got two of my favourite cars, had a couple of test drives in e-types last year before I bought the Cerb, a 4.2 and a 3.8, liked the latter best with the minimalist bucket seats and the ali panelling, even though the Moss box was rather fun in a vintage kind of way. Trouble is around my kind of budget the e-types were quite rough whereas the Cerb was A1 with only 25k on the clock.

Opposite problem. My car has taken to occasionally flicking full beam on while it's out on the drive on its own!

Possessed? Attention Deficit Disorder?

(Mrs DaveR has now taken to calling it Christine of course.)
