Point taken, I was going to leave those fixings in mild steel.

I have packs of stainless stuff ready for my engine rebuild. Anodised aluminium can look good too in the right (very low stress!) applications. Anodised titanium has to be the ultimate to dress things up without compromising strength, but paying £15 a bolt doesn't go down well with 'er indoors!

Its worth using something like copaslip on the threads - don't use them dry. People will warn against corrision due to different metals, but its really only a problem the other way round - small amounts of aluminium against chunks of stainless. Like aluminium fasteners of sheets of stainless in marine applications. Stainless bolts into alloy engines should be OK.

From whence, oh great leader ??

Do they do 'Cerb Packs' ? or did you work out/ read up what was necessary in advance ?

I'm just buying supplies as I go along, the majority of the visable easily changable allen bolts/countersunk are M6 it's just the length that differs, from 12mm through to 30mm.

Seat base bolts are M8 setscrews.

Hope you were joking about the mild steel in stressed area's TT

I personally would only reccomend high tensile in these areas!

T'was a typo, I meant that I'd leave the 'stressed' fastenings alone for now, but thanks for the info.
