Strobe like headlights

As the title says.
Both front lights flickering alarmingly.
Any ideas? have unplugged the controle box but no joy.

My Tuscan is doing ths, I am having the alternator regulator checked as its almost certainly this that has malfunctioned. Has yours stood a while?

No not really Justin,
It gets a good run at least twice a week.
Maybe a connection somewhere?
Everything else electrical fine.
Would the battery not loose its charge? The lights, heater and radio were on tonight, it did not happen straight away.

The alternator regulator stops it pushing too many volts. I think it might be like the scenes you get in films where there is a power surge and the lights get brighter and flicker!

Not sure if the Cerb has a seperate voltage regulator. Anyone?

Is it more pulsing than flickering, do the dash lights do the same? It will still charge, theres 3 control circuits on moders alternators now, it might be one has failed.

I will have a dig about and report back with findings.
Something loose I think, as it was intermittant at first starting as I drove over a less than perfect, surface. This happens a fair bit with the shocks still wound up high.
Whats the deal inside the pod? there are circuit boards in there for the lights right?
Could it be the the light switch? or maybe the connections to it?

could be something as simple as bulbs on their way out?

back in the old days when my old mans big wooden tele used to start flickering, a good thump on the top or side would sort it out...
I wouldnt advise that though

Nick, mines doing exactly the same. I've only driven twice in the last couple of weeks and noticed it just as I was arriving back home. Typically, after noticing it it wouldn't do it again! I reckon it is just a loose connection to the bulb (mine was passenger side), or the bulb on the way out. I am going to check it out in a couple of weeks when I change my manifolds.

Yes I think it will be something simple,
I should have said it happens with the engine switched off, so not interference being injected into the system.
