Went outside this morning to warm the car up. Pressed fob, started engine then retired indoors for 10 minutes for a cuppa. Got back in and drove to work. Searched high and low for keys/fob. Nothing. Only left the buggers indoors next to said cup of tea. AAARGGHHH.
That'll be a taxi home then.

I did that when i first got the cerb. I also did one worse and put the fob on the little bit of carpet in front of the gear stick. Needless to say it disappeared into the innards of the car under the gearstick when I accelerated. It took me hours to get it back out!

Now I only ever put the fob in the door pocket.

Ha ha - pathetic ! When taking mine home after buying her, mine had dropped into the 'Black Hole' and I got into a fight with some frenchies in a Petrol station, convinced they were taking the mick and hiding 'The Keys' - WotaPrat !

Actually, let that be a lesson to you.

Leaving the old girl idling away outside to warm up is not ideal. Only the engine is warming up. Driving off sympathetically from cold and gently bring everything to the boil is far better.

Yep, been there, done that. Except I realised I had left my keys at home when I went to start the motor on the petrol station forecourt, everybody assumed it had broken down.... taxi home for the keys and back again..

I keep doing the opposite now, we've got two cars without traditional keys, so now we've a third I keep walking off from the Golf without taking them out

I just hold my plipper on the Cerb and it locks the car and closes the windows before arming the alarm.

I genuinely believe that this should be in the owners manual, under 'I had the blipper when I got it' heading.

Took me ages to find the fob in Tesco car park soon after I bought the car, ruins your street cred' when your arse is in the air and your head under the passenger seat!

There's no way in a million years that I would leave a Cerb idleing with out being in it.

When the inevitable happens & that oil pressure spring / valve fails, you've got about five seconds to rev the engine & hope you force it open, or better still turn the engine off.

My fob lives on the indicater stalk to save it going walkies whilst driving or getting left behind. I know exactly where it is when i need to bail out in a hurry
