PLEASE HELP - CERBERA FOR DAY HIRE? Anywhere Surrey / Sussex

I'm DESPERATELY trying to locate a TVR that I can hire for my husband this weekend just for a few hours. It's his birthday tomorrow and TVRs are his passion! Particularly Cerberas. I have been on the internet and telephone all day trying to arrange something but nothing is coming up.

If ANYONE can suggest a relatively low-cost option for arranging such a gift, please get in touch. We are totally reliable and can give any form of identification required & insurance details.

We are Cranleigh based but would be prepared to travel.

Its not that we're not being friendly, the reason you're not getting any offers is that a cerbera has a tendancy to bite its owner, particularly at this time of the year (see recent ones that have been "lost". The thought of your hubby trying to drive one with the roads as they are, without being a regular cerbera driver, is not good for the car or his health.

On the other hand, he may indeed be the next Ayrton Senna, but he didn't get to drive our cars either!!

If you are looking for someone to take him for a blast in a cerbera, you are much more likely to get an offer.

Sorry to put a dampener on your plan - its a very nice gesture to your hubby (makes a note to question wife why she never did this for me).

I have seen one or two up for hire years ago, but as earlier posts have stated, not the best weather conditions - and a few long term owners have been 'caught out'. I will try and find those companies – but whether they still lend out I don’t know.

When new to a Cerb you dont often get a second chance.. the back end can fly out so hard that daman hill wouldnt catch it.

If you lived a little closer, I would be willing. Unfortunately, the mileage of just getting it too you would rule me out.

You could try Bespokes (based near Watford). According to their web site they have a Griff, T350, Tamora, Tuscan and Sagaris. As you would expect some are cheaper than others.

Hello Emma,

I believe you spoke to Mrs T. last night. I've had a look round and the going rate seems to be about £300 a day with a hefty excess (anything up to £3k. ) Only Bespokes had a Cerbera on their list. As many have said, this only reflects the ability of the Cerbera to bite the hand that feeds it. My suggestion would be to have a word with the nice folks at Racing Green in Ash Vale and ask for a passenger demo ride with Phil Keen (their mega talented young racing driver). He's one of the few who can demonstrate the true pace of a TVR.

yes - do that - apparently he really is the business. Was talking to one of their other mechanics who had been for a ride with him and he said it was a revelation. Racing Green 01252 544 888. Ask to speak with Colin and just explain what you want to be able to do as a birthday treat. They are nice people there. And hopefully i will have my car back soon

Well - that's from the wife - and now from me - I must say that I can't believe I didn't spot her post in the first place!
A very big thanks to all that responded to my wife's post - she seems to have spent most of the last 24 hours trying to charm all and sundry into letting me loose on their Pride and Joy!
Having driven a couple of Cerbs and Chims from time to time, I have a definite need to own one, it's just not the right time just now (Think school fees and a new business venture taking precedence...)
Anyway, you have all reinforced my faith in human nature (and PH!), and I look forward to meeting some of you soon and joining the gang not too long after!
(I know I'm a very lucky man having a wife that goes to so much effort - I do appreciate it really I do!)

Ah, well - I did choose it myself for some reason... It's down to my name - an old company I worked for and their database system - It picked up your first initial and the 1st 7 letters of your surname... guess I was just plain unlucky! (I blame my parents for not thinking things through and 'future-proofing' me!)

Also, quite happy to meet you for a beer and convince you that your children will be far happier in a state school & you should put TVR purchasing at the top of your list of priorities!!!!

I would have offered a you a ride myself, however the Cerb' being what it is, the dip beem stopped working the other evening. Am now in the process of wiring in the direct from battery relays, so I don't have to put up with it again.
