S/light blub keeps blowing.....................

Immanent MOT failure due to this the smallest blub on the car keeps blowing...(front s/light, Pod lights) would it be just a short somewhere??? surely more than just the front side light would blow if it was short? Replaced the thing twice now getting a bit

edited to add the bulb usally last an hour or two before blowing

Can anyone tell me the name of this black Slika stuff for sealing the panel back in place, as I've run out mastic.

Just get some black body sealant, thats what I use.

Or my local motor factors sells something similar called Tigerseal..... excellent stuff.

Well before you put another bulb in see what the voltage across the contacts is.

I assume you've tested bulbs removed to see they've actually blown

The only three reasons I can think for a bulb blowing is overvoltage which would be quite hard to achieve, but usually involves alernator and knackered battery problems.

Or intermittent contact which would be like your youngest child whos just got tall enough to reach a light switch and has to press the lights on and off every second or so until the bulb blows.

Or overheating, caused by grease or dirt getting to the lens of the bulb, or a confined space

Your problem is likely to be one of them.
