lambda sensor wiring .... advise please

hi all ...

Ive undone the blighter but cant easity get my hand up to unplug

the wire dissapears up above the gearbox

how long is the wire ? is it cable tied to any thing ?

any hints on unplugging it ?

advise gratefully recieved or Ill find out the hard way tmrw!

Long skinny arms help (hey, lucky I've got two then...). I remove the panel that covers the back of the engine/battery, and then reach down with one arm and grab the lambda sensor connector located on top of the gearbox. By carefully squeezing, I can release the 'latch' and pop them apart. Re-connecting is simply the reverse of this, but with more cursing as they will only fit together one way.

All this has to be done with one hand, unless you have small, well trained children.

If you can roll cigarettes one handed, you should be fine.

There are a few cables ties holding the wires out of the way, I normally replace these as it makes me feel better.

I wasnt sure if it was an above or below scenario.

My arms are braced to lose some more skin then!!

I've just done this, but working from below, I've had to remove the cats anyway but there is room to get one forearm behind the g'box and the other down the side, this made it realatively easy to reattach the lambda, I do have battle scars to proove the Cerb' put up a struggle though!

thanks forr the advise ... left exhaust in place ...

I wouldnt want to do it without a pit or lift!

they undid ok ... if you call 8th of a turn at a time ok ..

unplugged from top - disconnected throttle linkage
plugged the new ones back in before tightening sender - reverse twisted
wire slightly so the wire ended up straight when tightened.

bit of a bugger getting wire over top of gearbox on nearside

- I too now have very scratched tos of hands and forearms!!

goner plug her back in now reset the codes and hope alls OK!!
