Help Clutch Bleed
Discussion
Hi All,
I bought one of those self bleed kits at the weekend and tried without any joy to open the bleed nipple. It's been rounded by the last owner and I'm stuck as to what to do. Will I have to replace the whole thing by which I mean the pipe?
Any ideas; I'm getting very P'ed off as I have not driven the car for a month apart from around the block hoping the the clutch will fix it self. I'm having to put it in gear and bump start it wit the starter motor, I seem to be able to go up from 1st to 2nd but not back down. There seems to be fluid coming out from somewhere but I have no idea where. The master is still full??? The fluid could just be water thats been sitting there and when I move it falls out?
Any ideas what to do about the nipple.
Cheers
John

Hi John I had the same kinda problem (and seen many of similar ilke this month - think it is clutch time of the year).
The diagnosis I have is the slave cylinder seal...but I am still baffled as to why the clutch fluid is still right on the level.
I also have some fluid...oil like in nature under the car (under the driver's side front wing to be precise) - so I too am confused...
I'll keep an eye out for any news...off to TVR centre tomorrow...more bills please!

Can't you get a pair of mole grips on the nipple. Just be careful it doesn't snap while undoing it.
When it's out, I'd advise taking it to a local motor factors for a new one.

Failing that, if its that areoquip type braided hose, maybe its possible to cut the old end off and fit a new one? (you can get fittings to suit)
