Cerbie arrived - been a naughty boy again!
Discussion
Just took delivery of my 4.2 Cerbie gona call him Pat, it appears that the car failed its MOT on emissions about a year ago and the owner took it to various places and got lots of interesting advice on how to rectify the situation – seems to have spooked him, so car has stood for a year, mostly outside and now needs a bit of TLC!
Currently registered P473 ATT (hence Pat!) or previously B8 AWR finished in storm grey with flint (grey) interior, mileage is a genuine 42,000.
It has had modified front and rear lights

Modified / sports exhaust with single cat anyone recognise it?

It has had a suspension upgrade all round, anyone recognise what has been fitted?

The car currently runs quite well, seems to be on all 8 cylinders, however the MIL light occasionally flickers and I am told the emissions are out.
I have been told that the problem is that the wiring loom lets in water on the multi plug / harness to the ECU and this may need to be replaced?
Not sure about the Lambdas, throttle pots or temp sensor as I have not checked these yet!
Hoping to get workshop manuals and test software etc in the near future, then will set about getting it sorted weather permitting!
Once it is sorted as has been mentioned elsewhere I hope to do some sprints, hill climbs and other events.
I would love to hear from anyone that may know anything about the cars previous history?
Julian

The emissions being out is probably due to the exhaust, especially the single cat (if it is a cat and not just a silencer put in place). Even with a standard exhaust, these can be pretty tricky to get through an MOT and a few people remove the cat's to prolong their life.
I would try getting a pair of cats and fitting them in, see if the emissions improve.
