Hi guys ... with search down any quick advise appreciated.

had a year of hot start problems ... had new starter fitted all rosey ...

now had a cold start problem x 3 ... family getting good at push starting me!

de alarm car all lights on dash come on push black button and nothing at all
no clicks or anything.

any random time later it will work but assume somthing is on its way out.

any ideas -
Im assuming check earth straps whereever they are?
check black button connections / operation (assume i have to remove steering wheel t get to it?
is there a relay between steering wheel and starter - if so where is it found?
If I were to replace the wiring with fresh does any body have a basic diagram , cable sizes etc

Any other ideas? ... TA DAS

There are 2 earths in the engine bay. 1 drivers side right front under the engine cover between the engine and rad. 2nd in the front passenger wheel arch at the rear. i believe there are also earths behind the dash and at the rear but have never found them do a search. they may come up

check the main live lead ( big thick red one from battery) connections and the condition of the wire itself

Next time it doesn't start, keep your finger on the black button & see if it fires up (Five minutes is my record)

Cheers .... will try and look at all the cabling with any luck it will go copletely dead rather than this intermittent mallarcky

Russell ... 5mins ... you must have been getting desperate!

Gazza ... cant say I have ever jumped started ... my method is the always park downhill
just in case game so I can Bump start ... dont know if this is good or bad but at least it gets me home!

Suns out so maybe a spin tonight is in order!

Russel Extra and Gazza ... just reading thru old posts now search is up and found some old classics like this www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=147961&f=6&h=0&hw=starter

Had me in stitches .. I can see the funny side to all this ... british engineering at its best!
goner check her over tmrw .. guess the answer is to carry on parking down hill and dont travel alone!!
