Noisy alternator

Help.... the noise from my alternator is really getting on my wick now. I know that Cerbs are supposed to sound a bit "loose" while they warm up, but the continual ticking from the alternator makes the car sound like my old Mk2 escort from 1987 - it even drowns out the hearty noise from the back end.

The guys at castle adjusted it when the car was serviced at 12k miles in January, but it doesn't seem to have altered the noise.

Any ideas what to do next ???

Be careful that it doesn't seize, there is a slim chance that it could strip the alternator jack shaft thread, and that could cost you £1000+ to get changed over! I know because that's what happend to me. My alternator didn't technically seize but something dropped down and stopped the lower pulley from turning which stripped the thread!

If I were in your position I think I'd be looking at changing that alternator, it's only a couple of hundred quid.

are u sure its the alternator?could be the water pump?get it checked out if i were u
