Some time ago I borrowed Nick'cc's ACT trackday silencers (yes, I've still got them). With a trackday coming up at my favourite track (Bedford Autodrome -- good for numpties as there's plenty of run-off, but stringent noise limits) I thought I'd do a bit of dB measurement. I have some sort of sports exhausts (I know not what) and the linked decat from joolz.

Before fitting the ACT silencers, I measured 119 dB(A) at 5,500 rpm.
After fitting them, I measured 104 db(A) at 5,500rpm.

So a useful 15 dB reduction, but I need to get down to 101 dB(A).

Also need to manage 87 dB(A) in the driveby test at 20m away -- might have to take a trip over to Bedford Autodrome to get measured.

Any reason you're taking the readings at 5500 rpm. I thought 4500 rpm was the more usual figure?

The Bedford Autodrome website says "3/4 of maximum revs" which I reckon is about 5250 or so. I suppose I could claim that max revs are 6000...

Carl, can you mail me details of the track day. Would like to do my 1st day there due to the numpty run offs!
