Hello everyone

Following on from my previous post www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=257318&f=6&h=0 I now need to identify which clutch I have. I have dug out the old receipt from Walldonway which describes it as:

Q0365T CLUTCH ASS

Can any of you knowledgeable types tell me whether this is an early or late style clutch.

It looks like my car has had a clutch slave cylinder aswell from David Gerald which describes it as:

CYLINDER SLEEVE CERBERA EARLY
BELL HOUSING INNER CERBERA EARLY
CLUTCH PISTON CEBERA EARLY

So it looks like I still have the earlier slave cylinder. Are these still available or am I stuffed for a new bellhousing and possibly clutch?

I've only driven the sodding thing twice...........

Regards

Ed

Sounds like you need the upgrade.

Bell Hill or Douglas Valley?

Don't panic. Even if its the early style clutch/flywheel/bellhousing, you don't need the bellhousing.

You can fit the later clutch and flywheel within the old bellhousing by just using 5mm longer bolts and chamfering the bolt heads so they don't foul the bellhousing.

And I think the slave cyl is the same - mine was.

If you've got receipts from Walldonway, try calling Keith there, he has a good knowledge of what goes where!

Andy.

Thanks for the replies.

All I want to change is the slave cylinder as the clutch is almost new (2000 miles).

I have ordered a slave cylinder from TVR Power but we decided on the phone that I needed the later style one as I thought I had the later clutch.

It looks like I had an earlier slave cylinder last time and I know the flywheel wasn't changed so I guess I have the old style clutch.

My question is, not withstanding that alinton thinks that the slave cylinders are the same:

Are the early slave cylinder assemblies still available?

Cheers

you might find an early slave kicking around somewhere, but any decent machine shop should be able to make you one anyway using your existing one as a copy.
You *can* run the early slave with the later clutch, but only until the friction plates start wearing .. then you run out of return travel as the diaphragm fingers move outwards and you lose clamping pressure on the friction plates. The later clutch is deeper, so TVR fitted a shorter slave cylinder to compensate.

Morning all

Just rung Walldonway and they say that Q0365T is the latest spec AP Racing Clutch. Jolly good.

I have ordered the late slave cylinder from TVR Power. Will this fit in my early bellhousing (and work) ?

I'm going to take it all apart over the next couple of days so I guess I'll find out. But what I don't want to do is fit the late slave cylinder and find out it won't work with my bellhousing becasue then I won't be able to send it back for a refund!

It's exciting all this talk of getting it back on the road

Cheers
