Throttle Cables Sticking

Anyone had this? 4.2 1997, has been "sorted" once already, and same problem arisen again.
If there's a good permanent solution would be pleased to hear it!

I suffered it for the first 6 months of ownership, the accelerator felt more like an on/off switch than a progressive movement.

A new cable sorted mine out.

When you say "sorted", do they mean they fitted a new cable or have they done some kind of repair ?

I've been in a 97 4.2 at 160 (on airfield) as passenger and the throttle was stuck open.
found that return spring had 'disappeared' plus a little grease helped.

i think i autographed my undies that day!

Get a mate to help you check that the cable is actually sticking. I felt I had this problem as the revs would flare up on each gear change. On investigation the action of the cable was fine, quickly returning to the point where there was a little slack in the cable when I released the pedal. What fixed the problem was closing the butterflies with a little more force from the return spring. You can do this by removing a few turns from the spring.

I dont know to be honest, Horizon Motorsprt fixed it.

Alot of people particlarily in the racing worls fit a 2nd throttle return spring in case the 1st fails. I watched a Westfield SEi V8 drive into a ditch last year when his throttle jammed open!
