Help lights playing up

After a lenthy drive this morning i returned home.Pulled up on the drive at full lock and noticed the dipped beam came on.Im sure i didnt push the button on the steering wheel.I heard the light control unit clicking in the boot as i switched the light knob through the positions in order to get the lights off.I managed to do this after a couple of minutes,but now when i press the dipped beam button on the wheel the horn sounds.I had a brief look at the control box in the boot but cant see any thing obvious and no burning smells.Any one got any ideas? Sounds like it may be the main control box under the dash / steering rack. I had similar symptoms when mine failed.

It could be the control ribbon too, they are quite delicate to be used in the way they are...its normally at full lock, ie when the ribbon is being pulled, when they fail.

I am afraid i dont know where you can get them other than direct from TVR...maybe try some continuity checks before changing it.

Has anyone found a source for the connectors / ribbon?

Thw will be the ribbon cable gone, takes about 10 min s to change. I have only ever got one from TVR, about £35, but I told myself that if it went again I would take it to Maplins and see what they could do.

My guess is its about 3 times as long as it need to be.

Reading your post again, do you mean the full / dipped beam button on the steering wheel? I am assuming you did cause you then mention the horn, which is off the same ribbon.

If you didnt, it may also be the rotary light switch - i couldnt get my lights to go off recently and the rotary switch had gone U.S.

Well just checked the car again this afternoon.And the problems are still the same as this morning(i was expecting miracles while i slept and that every thing would be fine when i awoke) I had the engine running while i went through the motions again.I straightned the steering up,because i thought i might have pulled something when i went on full lock.I put my hand between the steering wheel and the boss,and felt the ribbon just by touching it the horn would sound.I then tried the dipped beam button again,the horn has stopped sounding when i pressed it but still couldnt get the dipped beam off.I switched the engine and electrics off and switched back on again and would you believe it every thing is working as normal.Do these cars have a mind of there f*****g own?

I know this sounds silly - but check you havent blown any fuses. I got in my car one day, turned the ignition on, snd all the headlights came, on 4 way flashers were flashing, wipers on at full speed. I spent hours messing abput with the ribbon cable, and as a last straw checked the fuses. The interior light fuse had blown, replaced it and everything was back to normal!
On normal cars if a fuse blows, things STOP working, in the Cerb other things START working !!

Well just been out to check that no fuses were blown and all were ok.and all systems are still working at the present time.

I still think the ribbon cable has worn through and is earthing out on the wheel boss.
