Carbon Al just let me know that the car is a little overly wide when moving from old workshop to new. In the end had to T-bar pull it on the roads, apparently it looked like a sight for sore eyes with magical dust coming off the bodyshell as she was pulled around the streets of south england....
Looks like I'll have to get one of those 'WIDE' stickers on the back!!!!!
Saturday 6th May - the bodyshell will be transferred over to the engine builders. They gave me an 8 week timescale to complete project.
On the 6th May - through PH first, hopefully Ted will be the first to reveal exclusive pics! What started out as a small shell re-design, went all the way and totally transformed the cerbie. So far Carbon Al is the hero in this Phoenix project - what he has done for the project is unquestionably above and beyond what I expect even from a mate! It is yet to be seen how good the engine build turns out, my budget is right against the wall now, so fingers crossed the next few weeks will see an engine in one piece for the first time since 20 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully on the 6th, we'll also get some pics up of the engine in its new shape!
From this point on, I will keep all updated on a weekly basis, as its only a matter of weeks now....!!!!!!!!!
Just a teaser.... I would love to share the design pics, but only 2 more weeks and PH will be the first to get pro-quality photos of the new body.......

Certainly looks like a large change in design, but can't fault it.. 
I just wish I has been one of the people that had witnessed the towing.
Nice work should cause a wave of excitement when the pics are released! Even more so when 100% complete!

Is the car still a cerbera though? ie are you going to have to SVA it or will it retain it's original identity? there can't be much of the original car left now surely?

I have a beaver tail Ifor Williams trailer if you ever get stuck (it has no sides as such). When you say it was T-Bar towed, do you mean a towing dolly where the front wheels are lifted off the ground and the rears are still in contact with the road?

Good to see the project moving on.
Have you thought about making a dedicated trailor for it? We managed to adapt a standard Brian James trailor for the Pilbeam by moving the rails apart and tapering them, and taking the outer walls off the rear section. (I say 'we', but my involvement stopped at the scribbling-on-paper stage.) Towing on a bar is not a good solution in terms of legality, and transmission damage.

The main problem is the gearbox. If the gearbox lubrication is driven from the input shaft then the 'box has no lubrication while it is being towed in neutral. You can get away with that at low speed for a couple of miles, but it's not a good idea to tow longer distances or at higher speeds.

Tr7's are like this. You disconnect the prop shaft when towing, no doubt it's the same for rv8's.

As I understand it they're legal only for removing a vehicle from a place of danger in an emergency - just the same as a tow rope or tow bar.
Come on guys SXS has just shown us a pic of his new car and all you can do is bang on about how the car was towed.From reading his post i don't think there is an engine in,so i can't see there being a gearbox in it.

the diff/trans wasnt hooked up so no issue there, yes this was a one-time short journey just to let the dust off, literally... hehe
I am eagerly excited about the pics coming out on the 6th.... you'll see the transform was more an artistic progression designed to give the body high-speed-rigidness and massive aerodynamic potential as well as venting, rather than a jap-cut-stick-box-shut job, whence the length of time gone into shaping the new body. I'm sure Carbon Al has much more to say about his discoveries when working with the 'whole' body.... ie. its not the same weight on each side, and not even level!!! etc etc.... hehe, the joys of cutting open tvr's (like kinder-surprise) you'll never know what you might find underneath...

Colour wise, Alan and I have been discussing blues.... my mind has been pondering a cascade paint job like she was before..... but I'm open to suggestions still.... a deep paradise sky blue with a hint of purple?

[/quote] British racing green, black or red bull blue in my opinion, as the car will have outrageous body work I would imagine you need an understated colour to finish it off nicely.
