Refitting Fuel rail - 4.5

Jeez, how tight is it supposed to be? or am I doing something wrong? tried lubing the 'o' rings on the injectors but no amount of wiggling and pushing seats it far enough in to fit the two straps to fix it. Any tips or ideas gents?

brute force and lots of sweary words helps put mine back on every time!
They are a git to remove and fit.

…and be VERY careful the first time you fire it up, it's very easy to nick those O rings and before you know it you've got a valley full of fuel!

noooooo.
chances are you've got one half of each of the o rings not seated right .. look on the side of the injectors you can't see easily (ie the sides that are pointing towards the centreline of the engine) and you'll see the o rings are showing .. get a blunt screwdriver and gently tease them into their seats, then you should just be able to easily drop the fuel rail the last couple of mm home.

Nope they go in like butter. Use washing up liquid on the rings and seats before you push anything. Works like magic.

I've heard K-Y Jelly works as well, but never wanted to have any of this stuff lying around the workshop for people to see.

Use washing up liquid for lubricating rubber ( or hellerine) oil or grease will make it sticky

The two Joolz, followed your instructions (couldn't find the KY though) bit of washing up liquid and pressed the 'o'rings in which as you said bulged out at the back of the injector stopping them seating.
What I found is - you'll know when you've got it right as the injector clicks into the seat, when you hear that you know it's in.
