I run a 1997 4.2 Cerb and its truly amazing, a fantastic car. However it does have a metallic rattle which seems to come from under/around the front passsenger seat. I've tried everything to "pin it down" without success.
I'm no great mechanic so wondered if any of you out there had experienced a similar problem? It doesn't affect performance in any way and is not always there. Its been suggested it might be underneath but the last timee the car was on ramps I, nor the TVR mechanic could find anything. I shall get it thoroughly checked at the next service, 4 months away, but would like to be able to sort it before then as it drives me nuts!
How easy is it to get the seat out (and get it back)?
As always all help very much apprciated.

It could be a tool! I found a rather nice 'snap-on' spanner under my passenger seat. Unfortunately the dealer had closed when I eventually found it, so could not give it back

If you take a tyre iron to the cerb anywhere you should be drummed out of the tuffty club.
The bracket at the front of the two cats is the one I bet you want to alter, but first just find the cause of the noise rather than speculate.
The Cerb frame is ultralite hollow tube with strength only along its axis. If you use a tyre iron at rightangles against any part of the hollow section tube you will dent or bend the tube.
You really really don't want to do that.

Had mine fixed at Trackcar just before Xmas, had the same symptoms. Have a good look round where the pipes pass the box at the closest point - if there are witness marks there's a fair bet you have your rattle.
Does it happen more when you power up and lift off? Did with mine.
Get it looked at, because if this is the cause you could end up need an intermediate pipe, which is expensive and (when mine broke) in short supply.
Interestingly it was solved with the addition of a couple of spacer brackets and adjustment of the pipes at the engine manifold end . No tyre irons involved - although that is what was suggested by the garage took it too to get it on the ramp (this was a TVR Dealer too).
You can get later pipes with this clearance improved but its a bit of an expensive thing to do unless you have too...
