TVR Centre in barnet just serviced my cerbie

Abd a jolly good job they did to!
Was astounded when I got the bill - £600 incl. for a 6k service, to reconnect the indicator stalk and they did the MOT. I thought that was very good value. Staff were really nice and did me a nice written sheet letting me know a few other minor bits they think nI should have done. Even gave her a quick clean for me. Dropped the car there latre wednesday night and it was ready this afternoon as promised.
They seem to be lowering their prices to compete with the independants.
Was very chuffed to discover that the car has no other problems bar the diff seals and a tiny leak from the master cylinder. Considering what I have heard of cerbies I had expected to have some bigger problems.
Am I right in thinking that was good value?
All in all my first Cerbie service was pretty painless and she does feel a tad smoother as well.
Me a happy chap so went for a celebratory hoon this evening and scared the hell out of a friend of mine!
Weathers clear tonight so I think it would be rude not to grace the roads in North London with the sound of a Cerbie!

£600 very resonable,but if you had gone to automedon in blackpool it would have been £425 and the car would have been serviced and checked out by the people who would have made the car in the first place!!!!and a 6000 mile service would not have took 3 days it would have took a day, serviced,minted(not just cleaned) and the extras would have been sorted not just written on a list for you.
They would have sorted it all out. hey did sort out some minor stuff but the diff seals they did not do because they did not have time. they did let me know about them and ask if I wanted them done yet or just to book the car in.
The place in Blackpool sounds cool, but not sure it is worth the drive up from N London! If I ever get myself up there in the cerbie though I shall deffo pop in and check them out.

Know what you mean, I was never taken with the owner of an exdealer/now indie place near where I live. As a result I stopped using them. I give the lots of money and the owner is rude to me !
LOL - know what you mean. I always found him a bit distant and abrupt until I went on a test drive with him. Took out an M400 and a cerbie. Does that guy know how to drive?!
Taught me a couple of things in my Esprit as well and I found him to be a very nice chap. Perhaps not the easiest chap in the world on first impression but after an hour in a car with him I rather like him. And he really does know how to get a car to fly!

here for TVR Barnet, although never had any work done, have used them for advice and parts, and they have always been friendly and chatty. carl_w said:

Not sure I've ever seen someone suggest going to Blackpool for servicing when the owner is local to Barnet before...
or maybe someone who's a very happy customer of there's? I used to get customers from the south coast, holland, belgium, germany to me for services on cerberas .. I even exported one to san francisco after having done a load of work incl traction control .. if you're good you'll attract custom from all over the world not just the local catchment area.

Totally concur,excellent sales,especialy when Peter Smith was there,and service knowledge,but I took my $ elsewhere,total
wit ,putting it mildly. Atleast I bought a new car through the factory,from my Barnet experience.

watch the diff seal, left unresolved it can neccessitate a new diff - or 2 as in the case of my old cerb

Benno - any idea how much I should pay to have that done? TVR centre quoted about 400 all in. If not Ill take it to the chaps at Silverstone but getting there and back wothout a car is a complete pain. Shame really as they have done a superb job so far hence the car got a clean bill of health I guess.

It is normally quite easy to suss indi v dealer costs.
PArts normally a constant.
Hrs les 10%.
Hrly rate less 50%.
Total = almost halved.

I've dealt with the TVR Centre for 9 years and they are a great bunch that know their stuff. Giles is certainly a character but really does look after his customers. You could not ask for much more from a TVR main dealer.
Agree completely with this-great bunch who look after my car extremely well.Never had a moments worry-except for Mark tempting me into a mk2 Tuscan or a Sagaris or a Vert or even-shock horror,a Noble.
