A most satisfying morning's fettling!

Did a couple of little jobs today, all thanks to advice from the oracle of knowledge, PH. 1st, changed oil pressure relief spring, thanks to the informative post and pictures from julian64, and got an instant 15 to 20 psi of extra pressure, then fitted Trackcar's cooling kit, with a new chip for the ECU to turn fans on at a lower temperature. Dropped the chip in, quick hoon to get some temperature up and left the engine running on the drive, fan one kicks in, then fan 2, temp drops, fans cut out again... etc etc. Brilliant! No more overheating, I hope, and no panic when I see a traffic jam ahead!

So thanks to julian64 and his post, and thanks to Trackcar for excellent service to ship cooling kit and spring for a next day delivery. I'm of to Pistonfest now, see you there!

Nice to hear 1st hand that the modified ECU chip works so well...... Definately a job I'm gonna do soon. Currently my temp gauge reads right up to 90 psi yes!!! it goes into the oil pressure gauge!! But it does come down again after fans cut in, phew!

I fitted Jools' replacement ECU for improved cooling about a month ago and have found it to be an essential modification. It proved itself to be very useful on Wednesday when I spent 1hr 45mins doing a 5 mile journey through London traffic after the North Circular was shut due to an accident... The temperature swings are reduced and the heatsoak into the cabin took a lot longer to build up. Hopefully this will make my trip to the Le Mans Classic race in July a bit more bearable!
