Wing mirror glass

My wing mirror has started to go funny around the edges, i have two questions;
1. How do you get the glass out, there is no hole underneath the housing, some had this and you could unclip them.
2. What car used them, i am sure they are not TVRs own.
My car is a 2001 Cerby and the mirrors are heated, i don't really want to just stick another mirror over the top.

Its a VW Corrado mirror Kev, though i'm buggered if i can remember how to get the glass off from memory i'm sure on my corrado i just pulled it off from the front, but dont try this without some more informed verification

That means i can go to a local suplier and not get ripped off, hopfuly someone now will answer me to how i get it off.

kevin, they clip off with your fingers! I replaced my door button yesterday and had to remove the mirror! just gradually pull it from any corner and it will pop off

Well, it may be a Corrado wing mirror but nobody seems to have one, or even list Corrado's on there list of spares.

If you're after just the glass, try Halfords. I bought a replacement from them, needs ordering but only takes a few days. I think I paid 6.99... If you need the full wing mirror unit, probably worth trying a few breakers or maybe these guys: www.volkspares.co.uk/

I thought the mirror was from a Citroen CX, thre is a link on this forum for comaprable parts, do a search i'm sure you will find it.

I got my replacement glass from TVR power in Coventry, I think they were no more expenseive than anyone else.

Went down to Vw dealers today and they can get a carrado wing mirror glass, price around £40 but they would have to order it and I could not take it back if it was wrong, I asked him if he would know one if he saw one, he said yes, we went out to my car and he said ah a TVR, my mate has one of these and I can tell you the corrado glass will not fit, apparently the housing is a carrado but the trim on the front is'nt (it is smaller) .
Looks now like it will be a trip to a TVR dealer unless someone knows different.

Try your dealer I had one replaced a couple of years ago for less than £40

ok i'm in a possibly unique position here as i have both cars, a 1991 VW Corrado g60 and a Cerby and i can tell you for an absolute 100% fact that the mirrors and the glass are the same size exactly! i just measured em so there, the vw guy is talkin rubbish

Thanks Andy, it's funny that people slag TVRs off for iffy parts yet it is the VW bit that is the doggy part.
