Handling question

First let me admit that I know very little about the technical side of a car's handling...(just in case I use the wrong descriptions! )

I'd like to reduce the amount of rear wheel spin when the car hits a bumpy patch of road. I've been enjoying the weather and rather think that the car is inordinately twitchy in lower gears on a bouncy road.

Now, is this a spring strength issue, or a damper issue? Or a combination of the two?

Of course, if this were a weekday, I would be calling our man Jules, but...

I think you'll find thats mainly damper, but very difficult to totally seperate the two in a dynamic situation.

But why not try softening your damper setting and see, its really easy to do, most of the time you don't even have to jack the car up to do it. You can get the best advice in the world, but in my honest opinion the advice is merely a starting point for you to try different settings and see which suits your driving style the best.

If its coming out of a corner that you get these moments of lost traction, its worth considering disconnecting the anti-roll bar, it'll understeer a little more as a result, but you should be able to change spring rates to account for this. I agree with Julian, a softer rear damper setting may help, worth a try atleast.

You could also have a word with Andy at APM, or Steve Howard at Euphoria they have been playing with spring rates on the Cerbs and have been getting some quite good results.
