Bodywork repairs in High Wycombe/West london area?

Hi chaps & chapesses..

Our Cerb got rear-ended this morning (turning left into petrol forecourt in 30 mph zone, had to stop to let pedestrian cross, BMW behind me didn't), means that I need some right rear quarter damage repairing.

Anyone have personal accident-repair recomendations? I seem to remember Ewelme being praised..

What about the V8 Centre in H. Wycombe. I had some work sone there on my old Chim when they replaced my mirrors, and the std of work in the body/paint shops is excellent!!
Reasonably prices as well and nice chaps. Give Perry a call!!

Now it appears we need a quote from an "approved" bodyshop off the insurer's list, so back to square one, after SGirl driving through the wind & rain to Ewelme this morning..sigh.

Ask them the qualifications and experience of anyone they suggest as in all probability they will suggest someone who is very skilled with metalwork...

Been through all of this with a lady who thought it would be a plan to park her Jeep in the front of my Chim.

Specialised paintwork in Reading are always recommended for GRP work by the Lotus lot.

I'm pretty sure that you are within your rights to have the repairs done at a bodyshop of YOUR choice.

But they are probably right to insist on a quote from one of their favoured places AND that will be good for you as their faves will really hike the price thus giving you margins with whoever you choose to sort those other scratches etc at the same time!

This is the situation. Our brokers put us on to a company called MSL, which is a new thing. They organise repairs to specialist cars (or something! I don't have all the details as yet) and have a list of approved repairers. The only problem is that because the company is quite new, things aren't 100% up to speed yet. This includes not having "purple" listed as a car colour option and not having any TVR repairers in their "approved" list.

They have a thing called a Credit Repair scheme, whereby you get the car repaired at no cost to you - so you don't need to fork out the excess and claim it back from the third party insurers. The tricky bit is that to use this scheme, you have to use an approved repairer on their list. Otherwise you have to go via the traditional route of paying the excess yourself and awaiting a cheque. And then they'd prefer to hand you back to your own insurer rather than acting on your behalf.

But now comes the really good bit. After several long chats with them yesterday, and me mentioning that there's really no point in offering a service for "specialist" cars if they don't have any fibreglass repair outfits listed, they've actually been in touch with both V8 Centre and Ewelme (and I believe a rep will be visiting V8 Centre today) and approved both of them as repairers.

I got a call from them just this morning. They've approved a go-ahead to repairs under the Credit Repair scheme, and since I don't yet have a copy of the estimate (postie isn't here yet!), they're just phoning Ewelme themselves to get it sent over directly.

So all in all, despite the teething troubles, this company is proving to be rather good. The staff seem to be quite conscientious and intelligent and if they continue in this vein, I'm going to be quite seriously impressed. They really do seem to be bending over backwards to accommodate my every request.

Abbey Coachworks in Wembley.They do a lot of work for Direct Line.I had my T350 rear ended twice and both were fixed by Abbey Coachworks.Very good job and very good value. I had some additional work done to the rear wing and drivers door at the same time ( Scrotey little bastards!) and the quotations for this work was lowest I received.

I can recommend Kingscourt Coachworks in Chessington, Surrey. John will be more than happy to talk to you about the repairs required to the car. They are an approved repairer for Mole Valley TVR/Noble. What John doesn't know about GRP aint worth knowing. A number of PHers have had cars repaired by him and no complaints yet to my knowledge.

As an aside, MSL (Motorist Services Ltd) have been around for years offering non-fault accident assistance and I've had the pleasure in dealing with them many times in the past. If it helps, we also offer credit repair facilities and are happy to offer this repair funding through a non-approved/client chosen repairer should it be required.

I'm just waiting now to see when an assessor can come out to view the damage, then we'll get it booked in for repairs.

Steve (anniesdad) - thanks for the info on MSL, I was under the impression they were a new company. I think maybe they're new to the brokers I use, rather. Or maybe new to specialist cars? I don't know. There seems to be training going on, anyway. Either way, I'm very impressed with them so far.

If you have any problems with MSL, we do an identical service if it helps. They should have an engineer out to you within 48 hours as a guideline and repairs authorised the day after. If it's a delay any bigger than this then I'd be on the phone to them straight away.
