My Cerb experience

On sunday it was Cars in the Park time, the weather was dreadfull, but I just had to go.

The amount of beautiful cars on display was excellent, despite the weather and I was mega impressed by the number of TVR's in attendance.

I have never had to pleasure of being up close and personal with a TVR other than a friends old 3000M so I was like a kid in a candy store when all that high powered british muscle turned up

After walking around taking pictures for the benefit of the PH crew and myself, I found a couple of TVR owners to talk to, namely Kev63 and his mate Chris....top blokes!!

Anyway, Kev was good enough to stand and shoot the breeze about TVR's and gave me some good info/advice on buying a Tiv and general ownership stuff

Im aiming in a few years (as some of you know) to buy an S3, but my main goal is for a 4.2/4.5 Cerb.

Being the size that I am, Ive been looking at trying one on for size and Kev was kind enough to let me try his out.......oh my good god

After fighting to lower myself into the Cerb, I found it incredibly comfortable. To my surprise there was enough leg room, head room, shoulder room, seats were relaxing but supportive, clutch was light, steering wheel was perfect size and the driving position as a whole was perfect. I also now know how to get in and start it

I also tried Chris' Chim which was real nice, but a touch too small for me Im affraid

I wanted a Cerb before, but now I want one sooo bad......I think I'll sell me parents to get one

You guys that do own a Cerb, think back to when you wanted one real bad and smile like a mad man safe in the knowledge that you own one...you're very very lucky

A very good point! I have just come back to Cerb ownership after a few years and it is fantastic! Certainly never a car I could/would take for granted! I hope that you manage to get one soon!

Just like Cerbie4.5 I've managed to get back into Cerbera ownership after 6 years away In fact she was my very car from 6 years ago After 9 months of deliberating I eventually took the plunge for a Cerbera. She was one of the first Lightweight models and I had her spec'd to the sky - cost me £56.5k Sadly just 8 months later she had to go for a mortgage, wife, and the inevitable children However during those 6 years the memories stayed strong and when I saw her for sale a few weeks back - I thought that this was fate and I had to have her back
Literally within seconds of driving her again it was like I'd never been away. You just can't beat the experience (even on a bike - and I know cause I owned a Yamaha R6 at the same time as the Cerb first time around) I must admit that some of the servicing bills in the history scare me but I'll just have to take each day as it comes. For now though, I'll enjoy her while I'm able to afford her! My advice... start saving!

Yes - Kev's a top bloke, he did the same for me last year when I hampered after a Cerb. Now I have one and there's no looking back. Why don't you go to your local TVR club and speak to those people, I found them very friendly, Kev actually blagged me some rides as I fancied a Tamora too.

Ownership is summed up thus: The look of a guy who has slept with a coat hanger in his mouth!!!... and had open wallet surgery at some time during that time

jagdpanther, you will most likely find that if you go to any TVRCC meet there should be someone that will be only too glad to take you for a spin there TVR, that will get the blood flowing.

At first sight Cerberas didn't do it for me. But once the obsession took hold, it really took hold. There simply isn't anything else quite like them. Get a ride in one - if you bump into me darn sarf, I'd be happy to take you for a spin. Reckon your parents would be posted on eBay before the day was out though...

My Cerbera Story

Scott, my story`s a bit different. my dream car for about 15 years was a porsche 928. came close to buying one about 10 years ago but in the end it was financially out of reach. then after a serious illness (see profile) funds became available. by now 928s had become scarce so back to the list of "other cars". soon rediscovered cerbs, and memories of legendry road test figures came flooding back. then a trawl through the classifieds and after getting an independant to check it out (thanks rob), p818kcf was sitting in the drive! 928s are now a fading memory. believe me, you won`t regret it.

Just been having this conversation with a guy who owns a Skyline.

His car is blistering fast and deserves respect, but IMHO...

There are very fast cars and there are Cerbs. I have my dream car, and yes, feel very lucky.

Trouble is there is no-where to go from here, nothing to aspire to.

The only thing i can think of moving onto is an Ultima GTR, cant afford it though and cant afford a 911 Turbo either.

Actually scrap that-- id like a Saggy!..they are nicely depreaciating these days.

Thanks for adding your experiences fellas, its good to see people depict the way that they were bitten by the Tiv bug...I know I have!!

Ive no chance of getting a Tiv at the moment, but I am planning it well. Already looked through the PH classifieds, AT and Ebay at the prices of S Series Trevors. Ive gotta get myself upto a meet and see if I can fit myself into an S1/S2 before deciding on which to aim for first!!!

Any overly large guys on here that have been able to fit in an S1/S2 let me know
