I finally got my first testdrive under my belt today! Ear to ear smile 
Definitely going to have to get one!!!
Unfortunately there was a little too much traffic to really give it some, but even so.....
Think it'll have to be a 4.5 though. This one was a speed six and felt a tiny bit sluggish.

I think you'll find the cars are quite 'normal' up to about half pedal, (and there's a long, long pedal). When you push down a little further and harder, all hell breaks loose and you'll find yourself steering to stay in a straight line!
TBH, it's impossible to test drive a Cerb on public roads with a dealer sat at the side of you. My test drive left me feeling exactly the same, "nice, but not as quick as I thought it would be." Once I took delivery and found a clear piece of straight road, the performance became very, very apparent!
Try to get a ride in someones car that can explore the performance for you, mine is a 4.5 but everything I've read about the 6's has indicated unnoticeable differences in performance.

Echo both of these, don't rule out any of the engines on the performance, there is every chance that you haven't scratched the surface on a test drive, the power is up high on the rev range and from what I hear in real terms and at sane(ish) speeds all are fairly close. Personally I ruled out the speed six only because of the inherant "issues" but as for 4.2 and 4.5 I had an open mind - you will in theory also get more car for your money with a 4.2 than a 4.5. Between the 2 I would just buy the right car for you that comes up first.

I'm thinking about resale value. I've been watching the classifieds for a while and the 4.2s seem to take longer to sell than the 4.5s (i could be wrong)
Also, the insurance for me is the same on both of them - so thought i'd get the more powerful one
I take it you're quite keen to sell yours? - I did look at it a few times, I'm not convinced about purple though.....

I think it's relative with values and resale options. You buy cheaper but the depreciation is usualy less. At the end of the day I would buy the best for what you can afford, but bear in mind the hit when you come to re-sell / exchange.
I went for a Red Rose because I didn't want to buy a cheaper car then find myself wanting to 'upgrade,' which would have been an expensive way of doing it. (Taking dealer margins into account).
It's not just on engine sizes though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Hydratrak (or whatever it's called - limited slip diff) was standard on the 4.5 (well is was on my Lightweight) but not on the 4.2's.
Also the 4.5's had upgraded brake discs and generally larger tyres, although I guess these type of options have been added by owners of 4.2's.
My point is that it's the complete package, not just the engine size you should be looking for. And if you intend to spend a reasonable amount of time in the car, then you need Air Con which when I bough my Cerb (first time around) was a £2.5k extra.
So don't rule out a Cerb just because of the engine size!

Why are you selling it?
we're moving house soon and i need to raise some extra cash for the fee's etc. If i can get away with using the equity in my house for it then i wont sell. Everytime i take it out for a spin i feel that i cant get rid of it, but property IS more important than the car unfortunately (well to wifey it is anyway, ive got a garage so im happy where i am!lol)
as for the colour, its more metalic/pearl aubergine than purple, and no matter what photo in what light i take it, it never looks as good as it does to the naked eye! Its also the only one ive seen in that colour.
