Cooling Upgrade

Just fitted Trackcar Solutions cooling upgrade, basically replacement for 4.2 engine management chip with some parameters changed to make fans cut in at lower temperature, also if you restart from hot fans don't come on while your cranking engine to save battery.

Seems to work a treat so far, went out for a good 40 mile drive and on the way back got stuck in the queue outside Chessington World of Adventures for 20 minutes. According to the water temperature gauge it stayed at around 85c the whole of that time on a warmish day, guess it was 18-20c outside.

I had the same mod fitted on my 4.5 by Joolz late last year and it works a treat

Steve Ts got some funny looking digital display where his ashtray was that does the same thing I think. Ordered one for LM. Having said that Ive never had a problem (yet) with my cooling, fans always come on, but ease of mind must be a good thing.

I've put in a manual switch so I can overide the ECU if I want the fans to come on earlier, stay on longer. Bit low tech really, but it works

I'd previously upgraded the wiring to the fans and switch them with relays at the front of the engine bay, hence being able to do this.

Though I must say, getting the pins located before pushing the new chip in the motherboard is rather nerve wracking as they are so delicate.
