Noisy camshaft - missfire?

My cerb is currentl in the garage to have a look at what may be causing a missfire as all leads and plugs looked ok.
The guy there has said the cam shaft is noisy on the off-side bank which may explain it but he will need to take the top off to check this.
Also he said there is a bearing noise from within the engine somewhere!

Im no expert so can anyone tell me if this all sounds about right? Am I looking at an expensive job??

Incorrectly adjust tappets causing valve opening/closing problems can cause a missfire.

I would be more concerned about the bearing noise though.

Also get a second opinion before you give him the go ahead to rip it apart!

Just make sure he is an AJP expert who has experience with the engines.

And dont even start thinking about how much it might cost !!! Engine rebuilds can be v expensive.
