Cerbera 4.2 ECU

Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a new or working used engine management unit for a 1996 4.2 Cerbera? Mine is throwing up fault codes related to lambda sensors (lambda sensors are new and both are working fine). Either a new/used unit or someone who can diagnose and fix/repair mine. My MOT is coming up in July and the only way it got through it's emissions last year was to borrow a unit from another Cerbera which I'm unable to do this year. Any help/info would be gratefully received. Also, any idea of the £??? - cheers - Stuart

Just had my ECU go recently! its a pain in the *ss. I took mine to the mechanic who services all the TVRs in NI and he sent it back to TVR for repair. I think they actually sent it off to someone else! Depending on what goes wrong in can cost £250 up to approx £800 for a new one!
Do a search on here for the ECU doctor! apparently he is the best solution if you cant get a local TVR shop to send it off.

Enquired at Bell Hill Garage - seem like nice bunch of people - quite helpful but the three ECUs he has for my 4.2 all have the same fault code problem as mine

Cheers Peter - have found the website for ECU doctor. Looks like they may be able to help and their diagnosis/repair and pricing policy seems very fair (48 hr turnround time too!)
Will let you know how I get on when I eventually send it off.

Had to take his [Bell Hill Garages] word for it I suppose.
HHC diagnosed the ECU 'fault' after it failed on a 'lambda sensor error code fault' during its MOT last year - both lambda sensors were new and were working fine with the borrowed ECU. A TVR garage supplied an ECU from a 4.2 they had for sale in their showroom at the time to get me through. Again, I'm going to have to take HHCs word that the ECU is at fault and I'm chasing up ECU doctor on Monday.
Apparently, the ECU will take it's reading from the good side only when a fault code is produced by one of the lambda sensors, this allows the engine to run (or have I been told a load of tosh?) - does that mean one side of the exhaust will be running spot on and the other not - dunno myself???

Lol .. well erm "I don't know" is the answer .. I used to have 300 cerberas a year going through my workshop and have never seen what you're referring to .. you must be unlucky I guess if it is the ECU (and if substituting another ECU cures the fault then it's looking likely I have to say).
PS one thing that occures to me is I have had a couple of ECUs where the NVRAM is faulty (the bit that does the adaptive trim value holding) and then the ECU can't trim the mixture properly off the lambdas.. not an ECU fault in it's own right as the chip is about a tenner, but have seen that once or twice too. The ECU doctor should be able to test that out for you though ??
