space saving idea..
Discussion
just a thought, but given that the tyre foam inflator stuff is probably close to useless in the majority of cases (especially if you're touring etc), does the stug pattern of the cerb fit any of those space saver wheels some cars come with? Probalby not ideal for a hard day's driving, but potentially useful if you shred a sidewall somewhere in deepest rural france etc?
any ideas anyone?
any ideas anyone?
I've heard good reports about this, it might be worth looking at, has anyone else used it?

I was laughed out of the room when I suggested this ages ago ...
I like the look of the sealing stuff .. would like to know a bit more
I have damaged a tyre on the cerb to the extent of a 1cm slice - no
amount of tyre weld would fix this!
Now you have mentioned it again I think I will look for a space saver
even if I have to get it machined
(its goiner be a bit scarey - Ill deffo keep it max 40mph!)
better than driving it home on a flat like I did for fear of leaving it at the side of the road for a weekend!

I have just run my mk2 mr2 with the 18" front spiders from the cerb on the rear while I was waiting for some new tyres to be delivered - the stud pattern is exactly the same. Also the mr2 has a space saver wheel which sits under the front bonnet. I doubt you'd have trouble picking one up from virtually any breakers yard for a yew quid. As Ridds said, there are quite a few other Jap cars that run this PCD and pattern too........ One thing I haven't quite understood with the foam can is do you need to jack the car up in order to get the foam into the tyre and spread around evenly?

Anybody know the answer to the foam and jacking question? (as I would also like to know!)
Nope you can just inject with the tyre flat on the ground. In fact jacking would be a nono as its important to run the wheel with the liqiud inside to ditribute it pretty soon after injecting.
The only time I ever jacked was in a bmw where the tyre had deflated so fast it had come away from the rim. I jacked to get the tyre and rim connecting before injecting.
I'm a poet, and don't know it
