ecu cooling upgrade chip.. where is it?

Passenger footwell in the middle of the bulkhead. Remove the carpet and underneath is a stiff plastic cover which protects the ECU box of tricks from passengers feet, remove that and you will see an ali cover with MBE written on it, remove the 4 cap screws and you will see the chips.
Word of warning, be VERY careful puting the new chip in, its very difficult to judge if you have located all the very fine pins in the mother board before you apply a considerable amount of pressure seat the new chip.

there's only 2 chips that are removable on the ecu board, one is marked NVRAM and the other (smaller) chip will have a sticky label on it .. it's the smaller chip with the label you need to replace.
Pull out the old chip being careful .. you can gently tease a very small flat bladed screwdriver under the end which is away from the ecu casing side .. go steadily but it will come out. You're supposed to earth yourself out to prevent static shocks on the chip .. but in 12 years I've never caused a chip any harm, but touch the car body before you start just in case maybe.
The D dimple end goes *away* from the casing side.
fit the new chip in place of the one you have just taken out. There is no messing about with the dealer diagnostics or anything, the fuelling is the asme as the std chip etc, the only changes are to the fan cut in and out temps, and the rpm at which they start to work (so they dont cut in on a hot start for example)
