Too hot for the Cerbera.

I thought seeing as we had a nice day yet again today i would get the Cerb out of the garage and go for a drive.I needed to make a journey to swiss cottage so off i set.I really wish i hadnt bothered.Ten minutes in to the journey and the usual start/stop traffic.Its when you have conditions like this that the Cerbera is not the nicests of places to be.After an hour the car was roasting,on with the aircon,but unless its on your face it does little to cool the inside of the car down.So after two hours it was back home, car back in the garage and me feeling like i had been on the road for 24 hours.Its a times like these im glad i have my RangeRover to fall back on.
I had my aircon on for the first time 20 mins ago and it was great, better than a lot of the cars ive been in, which surprised me.
although i see what you mean with stop start traffic-- the Cerb is just not a pleasure to drive in traffic if you get to below 10mph...might be different with you 4.2 boys, but my 4.5 provides me with a real tiring experience with its heavy cluth and engine that wants to kangeroo almost below 10mph-- if you want to drive faster than letting it roll itself along you cant apply the gas without it wanting to go flying off.

The 4.2 is the same or even worse. All part of the experience I guess. Speed 6 Cerbs are meant to be much better in this respect.

You need a remap. The 4.5 can be made to be silky smooth at low revs (I didnt believe it myself until I tried a remapped car) - the clutch is lighter on the later cars/ updated clutch ones - pricey as it is, its alot better.
The AC in Cerberas isnt bad at all if looked after properly either...

Second that - my 4.5 was remapped by the previous owner and isn't jumpy at low revs. My clutch isn't exactly light though, so traffic is still annoying! I'll report back on A/C soon - mines in hospital at the moment having a few things done including a new air con condenser & regas....
Im getting the car re-gassed this saturday,as i have noticed that sometimes the clutch doesnt cut in at all,but after repeated pushing of the button then i can hear it click over.Where is this little dial that turns the aircon up? I have to say that this is the third Cerb ive been in and one of them was a fairly late one and i didnt recon any of the aircon systems on any of them.I just think the car radiates to much heat through the fibre glass for the aircon to cope with.On the RangeRover the interior is ice cold within minutes even in the hottest weather,and thats got an area of three times the size of the Cerb to cool down.As for the Cerb being a town car for get it,but you would have to shoot and stab me before i parted with it.

My aircon has just been checked out/serviced and re-gassed etc, and is now running at a steady 5.1 degrees. (Apparently this is the recommended temperature for TVR's due to the huge amount of heat the cars produce)
The adjustment for the temp is to the right of the steering column under the fog light button, (it looks like a brass rotating switch with the plastic control nob missing). Presume it is turn to increase or decrease the temp, but have never had to do it.
I would recommend 'VAC' specialists as used by Fernhursts (01932 355825).
The engineer came to our house and took just over an hour to get it back into tip top shape! £100 all in!!

My aircon was always pants ('98 4.2) even after re-gas. It would be cold for a couple of minutes then get warm.
Still, the warmest experience I had was coming back from Le Mans. Got from Dover to Bromley when my radiator started gushing. Managed to limp home in the middle of a very hot summers day with the windows open and the heating on full blast (love the sound of that heater). Must have lost 2 stone by the time I got home

Mine is behind the carpet in the footwell, not far above the accelerator. I guess they vary with day of manufacture, like many Cerb features.
