Another ECU software thread

Sorry for another thread on this subject but here we go,
OK, the software that is floating about works on a AJPV8, Ive had confirmation that it works on a Speed 6 but other people telling me it dosent! Could it be that earlier S6 used the same connection method as the V8's and the later ones use this 3 pin oojamathingy? Also if this software does work on a S6 would it work on a Tuscan or other S6 cars if so then how? (people on the tuscan thread have tried and failed).
If it dosent work on a S6 then has anyone got the S6 software?

The connection isn't the issue.
The 9 pin D connector uses 3 pins for transmit, receive and ground. None of the other pins are used.
The 3 pin connector uses the same 3. I don't know which pin is which but I believe there is a thread kicking about that describes it.
The lead shown in the diagram thats also doing the rounds with resistors in the ecu end isn't needed. The safest lead is 3 wires as per the diagram but don't bother with the resistors. (They are supposedly required when live mapping. This might be true for the standard MBE units but is of no use at all with the Cerbera MBE unit. Live mapping just using a laptop doesn't work.)
Many people have had success with a simple straight through lead. Others have reported issues with more than the required pins connected up.
The software that is generally available for the Cerbera is a fairly old version pre S6 days I believe
There are no doubt later versions that support the S6 engine as well.
Whats needed for hooking up to the S6 are the appropriate configuration files with the diagnostic software. So you need to find a copy of the diagnostics with config files for the S6 engines.
But there are no doubt several versions of the ECU software for S6 engines. You will know if its working. The ECU has a code embedded in it that is read by the diagnostics to identify the relevant config file. When the diag software tries to connect to the ECU you get an error displayed if it can't find the correct configs.
In summary, with the correct version of the software you can connect to an S6 engine.
