Given that it seems everyman and his dog clamours on the general tvr forum for a new Cerbie type TVR or even just a new TVR with a 32v AJP8 in it, what would be the interest in say "upgrading" your current Cerbie unit to a 32v'er ? Or to put it another way, if say a 32v AJP8 was available, who would be genuinely interested in getting their mits on the unit?

Think that Ash asked for interests in this before and no one was willing to spend that sort of money for an upgrade.
Yup. The SOHC16 is more than a handful and still floors past other make 32-48v jobbies out there...
so why spend 10k+ for a few extra horses? the 16 has a character, I now understand why people love the stock grunt and roughness, its the tingling sensation of an engine which may not be a piece of modern marvelry but she's definitely an undisputed raw power house! the AJP8 is probably the last of the dying breed of old-skool SOHC16 flatplanes for the road.... so live long and prosper!
Would be willing to buy a NEW cerbie with that engine, plus all the little niggles sorted out. Most of the things that go wrong with the car tend to be down to the wrong components used. I.e electrics tend to be down to crappy connectors. Leaks tend to be down to inappropriate sealants (should a car manufactures still be using goo from a tube!), starter motor down to bad placing etc. If TVR could learn from all these mistakes with the previous car and sell at a similar price to the old one then I would buy one. (oh and could they make the rear seats slightly bigger, say big enough for 2 average size women to sit in

What real advantage would it give? Have you seen the size of the 2 valves in the AJP, they are huge.
The money involved would be huge, why not just put a V8 Audi unit in or some American thing in. Then again you do that and the Cerb would probably loose its character.
Ash what other production engine (for road use) has used a flat plane crank? I am under the impression that the Cerbera was the first.
Then again probably talking utter b*&^%$s

I was under the impression there was 32v heads already on a development car, wasn't there a PH news item about this a few months ago? I'm sure I spoke to Dave at Craft about the project, convinced I didn't dream it! lol

ah not just heads but a replacement engine.
Ideal for any chequebook tuners out there
