Right then,

I have now put about 1000miles on my car having sorted out the clutch slave cylinder. The huge enjoyment is only marred by the slight rough running at part throttle.

Having looked through the archives I reckon I need to:

1. Eliminate any play in the throttle linkage. I intend to replace the ball joints with spherical rod ends.

Does anybody (simonsparrow?) have any part numbers or sizes etc?

2. Put a throttle assiting spring as per Trackcar's diagram at
www.tvrfreak.com/links/tvr.htm (follow the link to the owners guide and then throttle return spring)

Does anybody have one fitted that they could take a photo of, just to give me a better idea of what spring to get?

3. Eliminate the noisy throttle pot signal on the nearside with a low pass filter.

Come on chaps, spill the beans, how do I do this one? Would it be possible to plug one into the wiring somewhere or does it need to go inside the ECU?

I'm really getting into this car now. Looking foward to my next journey

Cheers

Ed

Hi Ed, I got my rod ends from Ondrive, including a synthetic one here www.ondrives.com/products.asp?recnumber=707 I've got one stainless one and one synthetic one as a back-to-back test, but seem ok so far.

You need one with a LH thread and one with a RH one. M5 I'm pretty sure. I also needed a couple of bolts with a 'shoulder', in the end I got two from from Big CC racing in Wokingham, they're very well known in the motorcycle world for high HP drag bikes.

As far as question 3 goes i think i saw 'Speed8''s car who used to talk here a lot had an in line suppressor on the throttle pot wire, speak to Trackcar, i am sure the mod was done by him.

Yeah i've tried all sorts of things .. capacitors in the ecu, toroidal ferrites on the throttle pot wires .. none of them work particularly well unfortunately but can suppress (hehe) small problem spiking.

If you have an on-going pot problem it's more likely wear in the throttle spindle bushes, the pot supports the spindle for a few weeks until it's nylon rotating parts wear enough to allow the spindle to flutter with the intake pulses .. the fault isn't with the pot it's with the spindle, a new pot just hides the symptom for a short while.

sadly also the mbe is sensitive to spurious signal spiking, there's tricks I employ on remapped cars to reduce the effects, the emerald cars don't suffer at all and they enjoy long trouble free lives on the same pots for ages, but the mbe isn't as good in that respect.
