ok all,would be greatfull if anyone could tell me,how offen if ever do cerberas burst into flames .by that i mean travelling along at 20mph,a large expolosion and 2 feet flames coming from the bonnet. thanks in advance

I have heard of this once before, take it has just happened to you.

Very bad luck just hope everyone was ok. It would be very interesting although probably not at the top of your priorities to find out what went wrong so other owners could check that the same thing is not close to happening to them.

Hope the car can be repaired.

i bought one tusday night,drove home and put it in the garage.went to work wednesday reluctantly as i wanted to play with my new toy ,i had spent every penny i had on it.made it through the day rushed home to get car out drove 5 mins through a built up area turned of main road into sisters culdisac.and that was it,large explosion and 2 foot flames from the bonnet,oh 1 min before could smell petrol.needless to say my 18 hour old car is no more.......... gutted

Was the car just serviced, was it bought from a main dealer so you can have some come back... nobody wants there car going up in flames so any clues to how it could of happened would be of great help.

Sounds like a fuel pipe had come adrift possibly....

Gutted for you, hope your insurance sorts everything out......

sorry for your loss of car but if you smell petrol you owe it to your car and anyone around to stop (if possible) very quickly and *don't* open the bonnet for a long while till things cool down, then seek professional help to ascertain if it's safe to drive the car, my guess would be No .. as you've found out.

c3ber car was bought privatly mate was a lovely car,
fire man seemed to think it was a burst fuel line
i was going to my sisters smelt petrol turned into culdisac and it happened,was stopping in 200 feet anyway,i couldnt just stop just like that and by the time you think is that petrol is it my car etc it had burst into flames.
i have no problem with the guy i bought it from he was a sound bloke,he took me out with his daughter in the car,so dont think he would have done that if he thought there was a problem.he even sent me a email asking if i was home safely in the rain,as i say a nice bloke.
work last done on car a major service in march sorry cant remember all names

Ye sounds like fuel rail or line to me. Only way you'll get a flame that size that quick that continues to burn, oil and coolant can cause large flames but go out very quickly usually.

I know I've been on the recieving end of many!

all the questions are so i can decide wether i really do want a cerb,i think i do but have to put my kids first as i am sure you all would.may be i was just extreamly unlucky

also looking at pics i took after so i could torment myself, most of the damage is on the drivers side if that helps

sorry to hear that mate, i lost mine last year to a fire (electrical) so know how your feeling right now. Hope the insurance sorts it out for you.

Fuel line runs down the drivers side and back up through the front wing from memory. There are a few places where it could chafe and then split.

tbh I reckon you have been pretty unlucky. Not heard of this before though I have seen a few phots of cars that have caught fire.

OH NO mate, sorry to hear it, you must be gutted. The only other one ive seen on fire is on wrecked exotics but I think that one hit a lampost first.

Yep, that the kinda luck i have. Consider yourself lucky cos you had a cerb and i havent! Is it better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all!
