Car's been to dealers

I had a couple of issues with the cerb (mainly due to driver error before anyone starts the realiability thing again) there was a hole in the rad that was replaced under warranty but i'd also slightly knocked the exhaust (sports) when reversering and since then had a problem with performance, I wasn't sure if it was to a coincidence but under 2.5k it was real sluggish compared to before. the dealer replaced a throttle pot and throttle cable and did a tune up. the cable is definately noticable since getting it back but Its still spluttering a lot right through the revs.

It booked into Austec for an MBE remap - hopefully Paul and his team can put it right. I'm a bit concerned that the dealer sent it back thinking it was alright (note to myself: must tell them that the bonnent catch should really be closed before they send it back - thats twice they've done that)

when it goes in could you tell us what the problem was as it may help us

yeah im with you my dad thinks on ours it may be the electronics/ECU
have exactly the same problem with a slight missfire when trying to pullaway from under 3k revs
someone suggested to us may mean a bottom end rebuild (hope not)

Is this the same car that you bought with a misfire?
Hope it isnt a bottom end rebuild - that could add 6K to your purchase price.
Have you checked the ECU connections are ok ? ie that they arent wet?

oh and put a sports exhaust on today even though the car was poorly happened to be a bit better on tick over and pulling a way a bit better but not as much to cure it

Daniel I'm at a loss to understand why your Dad bought a car with these problems unless it was very cheap?

Hope you get it sorted, if you were closer to me (Milton Keynes) I would offer my services to show you the ecu and check the car out (diags software).

Gazm, surely you won't be using the dealer again?

brought ours to power this morning they said it should only be an ECU for us they said £1000 dad said i can get one for 300 quid second hand
oh BTW anybody got one thats in GOOD working order and NOT crappy

Got an update Daniel

the car has been at Austec today. They have replaced the leads which has sorted the misfire problem.

Will give you another update once I've spoken with Paul tomorrow.

Funnily enough the guy from Austec (Martin I think) asked me if the cats were removed - which I didn't know
